Frontwomen

health & beauty, health & society, mumblings No Comments »

Out of curiosity I started googling random frontwomen for bands and the like. Gwen Stefani is so beautiful. Brody Dalle has always been my girl crush, and Hayley Williams’ hair never fails to intrigue and intimidate me.

I’ve never really seen chubby or horizontally challenged women to be frontwomen. Most of the time they have these smoking hot bodies that all the girls would envy and all the boys would drool over. I wonder if these women take weight loss pills to take away all the unwanted fat.

If I had Brody Dalle’s body I would go out of the house wearing a bra and short shorts. Then again I don’t really think I’d be able to pull off looking like that.

Oh god, my insecurities are getting the best of me again.

To be honest, I’m really happy about my body, I just want to get rid of certain stretch marks and some of my belly fat. I’d be good after that!

On Graduating and Job Hunts

My sister’s graduating soon and she’s starting to worry about what kind of jobs she would take and the like.

For the longest time, our older brother has been the biggest influence in her life. If it weren’t for him she wouldn’t be playing nursery rhymes on the computer at age 4 over legos and barbie dolls, and she wouldn’t be learning HTML all by herself at the age 9.

She told me she wants to look for Network Administrator Jobs when she graduates, just like my brother’s chosen field of specialization.

She really can go places, once she sets her mind into it, I tell you.

I’m not really very knowledgable in this field, so if you have any recommendations on what books she should start reading up on and the like, please feel free to post comments in this post. I kind of want to help her after she graduates by buying her books, since books on her chosen field are quite expensive, really.

Quality vs Quantity

My brother is currently looking for lapel pins in department stores but hasn’t really found anything to his taste, so I was thinking of getting his lapel pins custom made.

What do you think? I mean, most of the pins on department stores are so tacky and cheap looking (well, mostly because they actually are, but you get the point).

In my opinion, brands aren’t always the key to looking like you actually paid for something worth more than the usual price. Sometimes it’s actually just the brand that you pay for, and not the quality of the material you just bought. I’d choose quality over quantity any day. I get most of my good clothes from thrift stores and second hand shops! Would you? And why? Share it with all of us! I’m sure there are a lot of people willing to discuss this very famous / common topic.

Quality over quantity. Start talking! Haha!

Operation Smile!

My cousin is sick.

I’m torn between getting her fruit and chocolate baskets and bring them to the hospital, but I’m leaning more towards the chocolate basket. She’s feeling kind of down lately. The fact that she can’t go to school and hang out with her friends for a month isn’t really helping, either.

Any normal teenager would want to be with their friends as much as possible. I mean, even until now, I’d feel sad whenever I’m alone. It’s just something people can’t help but feel, you know?

I brought my iPad with me when I visited so she can play with it for a while. Her eyes lit when she saw the iPad and begged me to let her play for an hour and a half. I obliged.

I’m bringing some of my graphic novels next time so she wouldn’t be too bored. Hospitals surely can get quite depressing.

Withdrawal

I read on an article online that when one shows symptoms of xanax detox addiction abuse withdrawal, a rehab withdrawal treatment program should be on the top of the list of priorities of the loved ones of the affected person.

The first mistake that any person can do to a person with symptoms is to pretend to be a doctor and diagnose the illness. We have people who have spent half of their lives studying so that they can provide people who need help assistance, and the best one, at that, and we can’t just put all of that to waste because we want to save money. More often than not people who opt to do the former end up complicating things and spending even more than how much they would have spent if they immediately seeked professional help.

Certain patient care centers have various differences, but most of what people look for in centers like these are methods that are safe and orthodox, but also proven to be efficient. It would be best to read reviews and ask from people you know if these centers are any good and what you should expect from them before doing anything in a rush.

Sleeping problem solved

health & technology No Comments »

A this week I had a sleeping problem so I went to a therapist and asked for advise. He gave a routine exercise that I should do during the day to let me sleep well at night. Also he suggested a product called DreamEssentails.com noise machine which is basically a sound device that generates soothing sound that aids sleep.

So now after a couple of days, I finally managed to sleep well. Last night I actually had the best sleep I had since I was elementary. So now, feeling refreshed and energized, I went to work with a very good mood.

I think the solution was quite simple. Just exercise you heart out in the day and do not take day naps. An exhausted body will automatically sleep no matter what. So if you are having the same problems as I had, I suggest you try out the things I did. Believe me it works.

Having trouble sleeping

A couple of weeks ago, I have been assigned to the graveyard shift. We had a new client and my boss wanted me to personally manage the project. The client however was in a different timezone so this is why I was on graveyard.

At first it felt well. I felt proud because my boss finally recognized my skills and expertise. Also, the graveyard shift has a lot of compensation benefits and that is including free spa sessions.

The project ended in just eight days. So now I am back on the day shift. However I currently am experiencing trouble sleeping. It has been three days now since I shifted schedule yet I still could not sleep.

So I did the wise thing. I went to a doctor and asked for advice. The doctor thinks that I have developed irregular sleeping pattern because of the graveyard shift. He suggested that I avoid coffee and tea for a while. Also, he recommended a white noise machine. It is a sound device which generates soothing sound to make me sleep better. Finally, he told me to have a couple of days off and do just exercise for those couple of days.

So now, I am at home, exercising. The idea is to tire myself out and sleep in the night. No day naps for now.

On finally needing a tablet PC

Most of my friends are gadget lovers. They always bring their devices wherever they go. Often times, when we meet, we end up talking about just gadgets, gadgets and more gadgets. I am kind of annoyed with that actually. I am just not the techie type. I just need one phone and a laptop and I am geared up. However one situation made me want to have a tablet pc.

One time, one of my techie friends and I met up with Frank who was a prospect venture capitalist. I have the presentations in my laptop and everything is prepared. We met in a Starbucks to discuss our business proposal. It was a bright morning then so when I showed my laptop, Frank had a hard time reading the documents and seeing the presentations.

Fortunately, a friend of mine had her iPad2 and she used that instead. Frank was happy with our proposal so we got the deal. The point here is, tablet PC’s are great for mobile presentations. They are easy to use and they boot up quickly. With this, I am now planning to buy one.

Time capsule cell phone

I was cleaning up my drawer earlier and I was surprised to see my old MotoRazr. It is a very sleek motorolla phone I had when I was still in college. All this time it was just stuck in the corner of the drawer. I thought I lost this phone already.
The first thing I thought was… If this phone still works, then I will be able to read my old messages back in college! How fun could that be? It was kind of like a time capsule buried in the drawer for five years.
However, because of the very long time that it was unused. The battery did not charge anymore. Unfortunately, the phone just wont turn on even if the charger was on because the battery was busted.
So now I am looking for into different motorola batteries and hope that I would come across a compatible one for my phone. They just don’t make these kinds of battery these days anymore.
Oh I am so eager to find a battery!

Gardening with Hydroponics

hydroponics gardening No Comments »

Most people love to have a garden at home. However having a garden requires a lot of time and effort not to mention space. Yet, nothing can be more rewarding than serving your own home grown salad to your family.

Recently, I found a way to solve all those problems with the use of hydroponics. Hydroponics is a method of growing plants without soil. With this method, there is no effort needed for cultivation. Plus it takes up significantly lesser space than traditional gardening. What you only need is a medium to grow your plants in, water, paper cups, a small plastic container and some nutrients for the plants.

I started doing this two weeks ago and I am definitely impressed on how fast my plants grew. It will really test your patience mind you. Seeds grow very slowly, some only a few micrometers per day. But it really keeps your mind of the stress of everyday living.

Right now I am still in the process of learning. Here is a picture of my first try, just a couple of weeks old.
