Quick gift suggestions

tips & tricks No Comments »

I have been so busy with work lately that I was not able to prepare for Christmas gifts for my friends. So today, I left early at work and ran to the nearest shopping mall to find the best gifts possible.

Cuff links – the moment I saw these accessories, I bought them. They are cute and comes in different shapes to match your friend’s personality. I bought two pairs. One with puppy designs, the other pair – cupcakes. They are so nice that I even bought some for myself.

Flashdrives – for all your gadget loving friends. I know they are very common nowadays but admit it, you can’t get enough of these things. Even if you have a hundred of these you will still appreciate another 10 right?

Christmas Cups – these are for my office mates. Cute cups are best given to employees because they usually have coffee in the office.

Shaver – a gillette mach 3 will definitely be appreciated by your guy friends who has quite a thick beard.

So there, the list of things I bought for my friends. It took me just a couple of hours to get them. Next thing to do now is wrap them up then I’m all set for the party later.

Need help on Algae problem

mumblings No Comments »

Hi everyone! I would like to ask for some help regarding a problem I have with my kitchen. My kitchen is well lit and well ventilated. It is an outdoor kitchen and kitchen windows are facing the morning sun so it is really bright in the morning. The problem is the kitchen sink my tiled kitchen sink gets full of algae and the only way to remove the algae is to scrub the sink every day – which is pretty stressful. Is there a way to algae proof your tiled sink?

A friend of mine suggested some things that may slow down algae growth. One is to add curtains in the window to cut the light coming in. Unfortunately, the algae growth did not slow down that significantly. Another is to use stainless steel sink which is too costly because I would have to rebuild my kitchen top. Please guys, if there is any detergent or chemical that I can use to get rid of these algae please do let me know.

On getting insurance for my parents

tips & tricks No Comments »

If there is one thing I learned about insurance, it is that it gets expensive as you grow older. Take my case for instance. It is just now that I started considering getting insurance because I prioritized my savings, emergency funds and business before any insurance. I am now 28. I did some inquiries regarding life insurance and the price was about twice as much if I was only 24. If only I started young, I could have gotten a good insurance for a cheaper price. I wonder if life insurance for seniors is still possible.

My parents do not have any life insurance. They only rely on their employment benefits and savings which is more than enough because we children cover for other expenses. However, this year I plan on getting them a life insurance just before they retire. I am not sure it is still possible but it is worth a try.

All my fishes, dead

I just went home from a two week vacation and was devastated when I saw my aquarium fishes floating on the water. Yes, unfortunately they all died. My cousin, who I left at home to be the housekeeper insists that she followed every bit of instruction I gave to  take care of the fishes. She fed them with a pinch of food only once a day and always checked if the air is still bubbling.

I asked a friend of mine for help regarding the problem. Using a ph meter he checked the acidity of the water. It turned out okay. Then he checked the salinity, toxicity and other chemical properties of the water. All good. So the problem was not the water.

Next is he checked the dead fishes. Looks like we found the problem. The fishes had some sort of white grainy spots on them. Those sports turned out to be ICH. An infection caused by a parasite. My friend said this is more likely caused by new fishes which were added to the aquarium recently which may have carried the parasites.

Best Uncle Ever

My uncle has been really fond of collecting classic cigars lately. He mostly just displays them in his office to show off to his friends, and on a good day, he’d sit down by his window and stare at the afternoon sky, just before the sunset.

His favourite among his mini collection would be his avo cigar. He says he won’t smoke it until he gets his first grandchild. His daughter got married recently and I’m assuming it’ll be pretty soon! I kind of want to be there when it happens, so I could paint a picture of him smoking his favourite cigar and give it to him as his birthday present and as a form of gratitude because he’s been nothing but awesome to me and my family.

Did I mention he’s a big fan of Neil Gaiman and has about 90% of all his graphic novels? Yeeeeep. This is one of the reasons why I like hanging out at his office and watching him smoke his cigars. Hahaha. Best. Uncle. Ever!

Frustrations

I have recently started hanging out with a lot of musicians lately, and I can’t help but notice how much I lack in the talent department.

These people are just so amazing, they get to write so many beautiful songs, play unique instruments, and just make brilliant music. I never really tried song writing, all I did mostly was cover the songs I normally listen to, and since I never tried writing songs, I’ve been mostly afraid of it. Right now all I want is to learn how to play the violin, the ukulele and the mandolin.

I have weird frustrations, don’t I? I have a knack for wanting to learn things that I don’t already know, and I’ll probably spend the rest of my life trying to play all of the three instruments I just enumerated. I know the mandolin is a pretty rare instrument to play during our times, but that’s what makes it even better! I kind if want to play an instrument and be able to add that unique sound to songs. I’m curious to what it would sound like on a full band.

On reading

As a self acclaimed book lover, one of the reasons why I hog my phone during my free time aside from the addictive applications on it would be the e Books that I have.

I have had this phone for almost two years and I can say that I still have not found the best e reader for the iPhone yet. I tried about ten, and they all have their pros and cons, but I don’t find any of them appealing enough to stick with the app for a long time. I get bored of it eventually and end up downloading ten more.

What kind of e readers do you have? Should I get an iPad for this? I don’t really know. What do you think? Please, help me. I don’t know what to do with my eBooks anymore, and they’re just piling on as time goes by. :(

Excited!

My best friend’s kid’s birthday is coming up in three weeks, and I’m looking for gifts to get him. The problem is, I have absolutely no clue on what kind of gifts for boys there are! I thought about getting him toy cars, but then I don’t think he’s old enough to enjoy those.

I also thought about getting him a kite, but then I figured he’s a little too young for that. I don’t want to get him food because it probably won’t last long! I’ve never been good at giving presents, not even to my friends, so… yeah.

Can you guys help me? He’s 6, and I have absolutely no clue. He’s just so adorable! I’m too excited to give him his gift and pinch his cheeks and get a kiss on the cheek and carry him around!

I love kids. They’re so adorable.

Your shoes tell you how much you respect yourself

tips & tricks No Comments »

I recently bought some DVD’s about prosperity consciousness by Randy Gage. Gage is very well known for his books on Prosperity. One of the best things I learned from the series is that, the things you buy show your prosperity consciousness. Also, your shoes tell you how much you respect yourself.

Take me for instance. On my first job, I needed shoes. It was required as a part of our work outfit. Any leather shoes would do so I went to Payless and got the cheapest leather shoes one could possibly get. Cheap shoes made my feet smell. Also, my toes started curling in probably because of the lack of proper cushion of my cheap shoes. That made me depressed buy I thought, they were cheap.
That situation had some bad programming on my sub conscious. It meant that I had no respect for myself.

True enough, when I transferred to my next company, I bought a pair of expensive high quality justin boots. They were amazingly comfortable and they hugged my feet like melted butter. They were so comfortable that every  time I wear them I feel very blessed. No longer depressed, I thought of better things to do and I was able to reach my career goals.

My point here is, self respect is very important. For things like shoes, one should really consider comfort first before anything else. Never rid yourself of the comfort of the necessary things in life. Believe me comfort leads to positive thinking which eventually attracts more positive things to happen in your life.

Time to get an insurance

Recently, we had our old RV pimped up with the latest RV technology in the market today. Well not exactly the latest but still it looked much better than before. We spent a really huge amount of money just to revamp our old RV.

Our family RV is our most loved car. It was handed over to us by my late Granpa. Since we were kids, it has been a tradition to take a road trip with the family using this RV.

Last night, I went in the RV to get a wrench. I could not find it so I asked my Dad. He told me that it was in a toolbox located near the RV cabinet. However was not able to find it. This alarmed us. It turned out that my Dad left the RV open in our garage and the toolbox was stolen.

With this we thought of getting rv insurance for our sake. Theft is not very common in our area. Although this was a really rare situation, we decided that insurance is the only way to protect a very precious asset of our family.
