Jerry’s dad passed away
health & society March 25th, 2010Just heard from a Jerry, a good friend of mine, that his father passed away yesterday because of complications from lung cancer. It was a sad to hear because his father was one of the coolest dad I have ever met. Jerry and I used to live in the block so I often go to there house to hang out. His father is always at home because he already retired from his work from the navy. He always prepare us snacks and even rents cool videos for us. I kinda miss those days.
While discussing about the cause of his father’s death, Jerry told me that doctors suspected that the lung cancer could have been caused by his work in the navy. Since his dad worked as a mechanic in a submarine, he could have been exposed to asbestos that led to malignant Mesothelioma – a type of lung cancer that is caused by asbestos poisoning. Jerry also said that it is very unlikely for his dad to have lung cancer because he lives a healthy lifestyle and they do not know any relatives who had cancer. The problem with asbestos poisoning is that, the symptoms appear after 20 to 50 years of exposure. So it is hard to blame anyone about it. Anyhow, he is waiting for the autopsy results to find out.
