The Ultimate work from home problem

I have been praying fervently for a work from home setup for the longest time now. Guess what? Early this month, our CEO gathered all the managers for a capacity resolution meeting. A lot of clients are expanding and there are just not enough seats available due to their quick expansion.

Consequently, I was included on the list of people who can work from home. Yipee! ^_^ It’s just what I need – some time to rethink about my work and what I want to do with my life. I almost filed for a one-week leave just to do that.

Now my ultimate work from home problem is this – how to avoid being excessively plump. Although apidex may be of help, but I need exercise as well. In fact, I crave for exercise. Hmmmm… I just might consider barre3 – where ballet barre meets yoga and pilates. I’ll just check the rates this week and see if it fits within my budget. Will keep you posted.

From “see-food” to healthy diet

My brother and his girlfriend, for some reason, have been on this very strict diet which involves just vegetables and several flavored weight loss drinks. It’s been ongoing for two weeks now; a breakthrough I must say, since my brother has been on a seafood diet for the longest time now – when he “see – food” he eats it. Hehehe.

Anyway, we’re really curious on what triggered this monumental phase but they just won’t tell us. We’re all betting anyway on how long my brother will last on this new healthy diet. I bet maximum one month. What about you?

Which diet program to choose from

When someone asks me what the best diets for quick weight loss are, I usually say “It depends” or “all of them work”. You see, diets don’t work the same for each of us. Sometimes your friends may recommend a diet that they have proven effective but when you try it it does not seem to work (or it may have only little effect). This is because there are many factors involving diet. One major factor is your body’s metabolism. Metabolism, according to Wikipedia, is the set of chemical reactions that happen in living organisms to maintain life. Chemical reactions require nutrients in order to take effect. When you have a very fast metabolic rate, even if you eat too much, you won’t get fat.So my advice, try different types of diet programs and choose whatever is most convenient for you. After all, each type of diet usually cuts you of certain food so it means that it will still do you something. Just try to discipline yourself to make your diet a habit.

Oh Ana!

When Ana got engaged 2 years ago, what should have been a 6-months planning became 4 months. She basically didn’t have time to lose weight with just exercising. What she did was she coupled exercising and diet with the best weight loss product that’s currently out in the market.

She looked fantastic in her wedding dress! Everyone was wowed by her entrance as she walked down the aisle; she never looked as gorgeous as that for the longest time.

Her groom was of course in tears. They went through a lot of hardships together and finally they were tying the knot. Now 2 years after their engagement, they’re more happy as ever. They couple are now expecting their 1st child and she looked blooming.

I’m sure getting her wedding body back won’t be too hard especially since she was been sticking to her exercise and good diet.

Depression may actually have a benefit (Not!)

Out of all the quick weight loss programs abounding the market, there is one sure way to become thin – depression. Unfortunately, it may be effective, it is not healthy though. Besides, this is applicable only to the type of people who tends to barf and/or lose their appetite when they are depressed. There are actually certain types of people who tend to eat more when experiencing depression.

In short, you’re lucky if you belong to the, I-lose-my-appetite-when-depressed category. Otherwise, I suggest you still stick to regular exercise and balanced diet.

The infra-red fat burner experiment

You’ll probably have seen those electronic fat burning devices on your favorite shopping network. I know you are tempted to buy one, especially those with infra-red stuff that claim to burn layers of fat instantly while giving you a massage. Well, a friend of mine got one and decided to experiment on it. He’s an electronics engineer so he knows for sure if the device is effective or not.

At first glance of the infra-red device, he already knew that the claims cannot be true. He explained that the infra-red is a spectrum of light which cannot be seen by the naked eye. Those red lights you see in the device are certainly not infra-red. They’re just “Red lights”. To make it simple, a common TV remote uses infra red (you don’t expect it to burn your fat when you point it in your belly right?). Regarding the fat burning effect, you’ll need a large amount of infra-red light just to burn the fat, that is, if you don’t burn your skin first.

Anyhow, at least the massaging part works but not that great. So as a conclusion, don’t get fooled with those impressive info-mercials. There are a lot of fat burners available in the market which you can try anyway.

The multi-vitamin in a shell

Who would have thought that a simple egg is one of the best foods you can eat when on a diet? A nutritionist friend of mine shared this idea with me when I was asking about the best diet pill.

Contradicting the usual belief, eggs are relatively low in fat when you consider the nutrients it contains. A single medium egg full of essential nutrients like carotenoids, vitamin A, B12, D, E, K, calcium, iron, phosphorus, zinc, folate, and panthothenic acid. It’s like a multivitamin in an eggshell!

So, which should I eat: the yolk or the egg white? The usual practice (by gym buffs) is to eat just the egg white, discarding the cholesterol rich egg yolk. But recent studies now prove that the egg yolk is much more nutritious than the egg white. There’s no debate in the high cholesterol content of the egg yolk, but taking the nutritional value into account, the levels are almost negligible.

Just a thought: Diet doesn’t have to be depressing.

Bikram Yoga with friends

My company is teaming up with the Bikram Yoga studio located just within the area to promote health and wellness among its employees. They had an orientation about the benefits of Bikram Yoga during our break last Wednesday. Although I already know all of those since I availed of a one-week unlimited trial last October, I attended the orientation to get a good grasp on the rates and promos.

I was not disappointed. They’re giving us a 30% discount for the monthly rate! Hooray! ^_^ I just wish they’d agree to extend the discount to family and friends as well. My friend Mark would really love that especially since he’s been stressed for the longest time. My sister, on the other hand, definitely needs to do yoga to accompany her intake of Fastin. That way, she’ll get toned up while losing weight.

I talked with the HR about the extension of the discounts after the orientation and she said she’ll do her best to include family and friends as well. I’m keeping my fingers crossed on this one. It’d be so much fun if I can do yoga with my friends. 0:D

Life sized Gundam in Odaiba

I was checking my facebook account when I saw updates from my friend from Japan. In her pictures, she was standing in front of a life sized Gundam robot! Not only that, she also became a lot thinner. I thought it was just edited in Photoshop at first but when I checked her other pictures… it was convinced it was real.

Excited, I called her up and asked her about the pictures. “It was in Odaiba, Tokyo. They made a life sized Gundam figure to attract tourists. It was very effective” she said. “When the news broke up, almost everyone around Tokyo rushed to Odaiba. It was made like the Statue of Liberty, facing the ocean. It was though it is the protector of Japan”. Nice huh. The Japanese did it again, I guess. They are even planning to build another one in Yokohama. Woot! I’m so eager to go to Japan! Oh by the way, I also asked what she did to be that slim, she laughed and said “Slendeslim”. I think it was the pill she took. I still recommend a checkup first though.

Hypothyroidism makes you fat

weightloss No Comments »

A huge number of Americans suffer from thyroid disease without even knowing. Hypothyroidism is a condition that affects the body’s metabolism therefore making you fat and overweight. This is why some people, even if they did rigorous workouts and take the best best diet pills, cannot lose weight. Even the strictest diet will not have any effect because the condition causes the body to gain weight faster.

I always tell my friends that before taking measures to lose weight, they must first consult a physician to know exactly what to do. Doctors run some tests to see if you really have Hyperthyroidism. Getting any illness that causes you to gain much weight is the first step in solving your problem.
