Quality vs Quantity

My brother is currently looking for lapel pins in department stores but hasn’t really found anything to his taste, so I was thinking of getting his lapel pins custom made.

What do you think? I mean, most of the pins on department stores are so tacky and cheap looking (well, mostly because they actually are, but you get the point).

In my opinion, brands aren’t always the key to looking like you actually paid for something worth more than the usual price. Sometimes it’s actually just the brand that you pay for, and not the quality of the material you just bought. I’d choose quality over quantity any day. I get most of my good clothes from thrift stores and second hand shops! Would you? And why? Share it with all of us! I’m sure there are a lot of people willing to discuss this very famous / common topic.

Quality over quantity. Start talking! Haha!

Withdrawal

I read on an article online that when one shows symptoms of xanax detox addiction abuse withdrawal, a rehab withdrawal treatment program should be on the top of the list of priorities of the loved ones of the affected person.

The first mistake that any person can do to a person with symptoms is to pretend to be a doctor and diagnose the illness. We have people who have spent half of their lives studying so that they can provide people who need help assistance, and the best one, at that, and we can’t just put all of that to waste because we want to save money. More often than not people who opt to do the former end up complicating things and spending even more than how much they would have spent if they immediately seeked professional help.

Certain patient care centers have various differences, but most of what people look for in centers like these are methods that are safe and orthodox, but also proven to be efficient. It would be best to read reviews and ask from people you know if these centers are any good and what you should expect from them before doing anything in a rush.

On finally needing a tablet PC

tips & tricks No Comments »

Most of my friends are gadget lovers. They always bring their devices wherever they go. Often times, when we meet, we end up talking about just gadgets, gadgets and more gadgets. I am kind of annoyed with that actually. I am just not the techie type. I just need one phone and a laptop and I am geared up. However one situation made me want to have a tablet pc.

One time, one of my techie friends and I met up with Frank who was a prospect venture capitalist. I have the presentations in my laptop and everything is prepared. We met in a Starbucks to discuss our business proposal. It was a bright morning then so when I showed my laptop, Frank had a hard time reading the documents and seeing the presentations.

Fortunately, a friend of mine had her iPad2 and she used that instead. Frank was happy with our proposal so we got the deal. The point here is, tablet PC’s are great for mobile presentations. They are easy to use and they boot up quickly. With this, I am now planning to buy one.

Looking for Sales

I am currently looking for good deals online. I tried eBay, Amazon and Multiply, but I still can’t find the right goggles sale. My friends and I will be swimming soon and I need new goggles ’cause I can’t open my eyes in sea water. IT HURTS, I SWEAR!

I look forward to lounging around in the white beach and getting a nice tan. I’ve never played beach volleyball so my friends promised to buy a beach ball and let me play. I’m afraid volleyball isn’t really my sport, but I’m willing to try anything! I haven’t had a decent vacation in weeks, and I am totally looking forward to it.

I kind of want to make sandcastles, too, but I’m afraid I’m too old for that. It has never really been my forte, I’d just play with the sand and bury my friend leaving only his face and hands out to the sun for funsies.

What other beach activities do you guys usually do? Don’t forget to wear sunscreen!

Storm Preparation

Since storms are beginning to get pretty common nowadays, I guess it is appropriate that I start blogging about it for people to be aware! (Not that I have that many readers, but hey, at least I’m trying!)

Out of all the storm shelters available, I believe I’d recommend you to get the fiberglass storm shelter if you’re really considering getting one.

I keep repeating that old saying, but it’s true! Prevention is better than cure. Don’t wait for the disaster to strike before you regret not doing anything to prepare for it.

Tornadoes are nature’s violent storms, and believe me, I’ve seen the worst storms out here in my country. If tornadoes are worse than these, you’d really want to be prepared.

Think about your family and the investment that getting a storm shelter will give you. Your family will be safe, and your house value will increase with this. It’s a win win, in my opinion!

Thrifting over Brands

Have you seen the series called “Jersey Shore”? A lot of my friends watch it and I find it intellectually disturbing. I mean, it’s a show about rich people doing nothing but waste their money and party all day and night. The only good thing that I find in this show would be the Ed Hardy products. The brand offers some unique styles and I just can’t get enough of them.

My sister showed me this replica ed hardy store once, and I was quite amused. They sold goods similar to the original brand but with cheaper prices. Some of you might opt to buy from this branch, so I guess it’s worth checking out.

I myself prefer thrift stores over brands, they offer a wider range of styles and you get to have a big assurance that you most probably will be one of the very few people who have that specific item.

Sometimes television shows worry me about what the future generation will see on tv.

Up for halloween

I have been engaged in a very busy project at work that I lost track of time. I did not realize that Halloween is fast approaching. Big deal right? Well our family have a tradition of celebrating Halloween in one another’s houses. It happens in rotation and there is no excuse. Everyone will host a party or else…

It has been always fun though. This event is sort of a reunion for us and we always make it special. I remembered last year when all of us attended the even. Grandma was so pleased she made a speech and wept for joy. It really makes our family bond.

Anyway, my problem now is I have only a few weeks to plan for the party and I do not even have a theme. I also have to buy holiday cards and treats for my guests. I am not very fond of the ghosts and ghouls theme. Oh, how about a superhero theme? Justice league or avengers perhaps (you do not want Mightor running around your kitchen right?)

Oh well… I guess I have to start doing and stop thinking now.

The boss is out

What a fun day today turned out to be. Folks at the office somehow celebrated because my boss is on leave for a couple of weeks. One of my co-workers even gave us free lunch because he was so glad the boss was not around. Oh well, the party was not entirely because of Big Daddy’s absence (that’s what we call him). It was also the end of our 5 year engagement with a client. This client gave a really hard time, even made some good friends resign because of the stress.

Anyhow, it was like highschool all over again earlier today. We got the projector running and we had a “How I met your mother” marathon. It was so funny especially the 92nd episode about “the sexless inn keeper” to which some guys in the office were. I just could not stop laughing especially with all the eighteenth century breeches and fashion. It was just ingeniously funny. Oh well… I sure hope this couple of weeks never end.

Google Plus

Have you seen the new Google Plus? It’s amazing, I must say. As a lot of people have pointed out, it’s pretty much the same as Facebook, but it has a lot of quirky features on its own.

Take Circles, for example. Everyone isn’t just your friend, they fall under some category in which you choose for yourself, and you get to choose to share your information with a specific set of people and not everyone who has added you to their list.

One of the things I like most about Google Plus is the hangouts. It’s similar to conference call hosting, but it includes videos, much like Skype, and it updates your page and your friends’ streams if you just came from a hangout.

I think this social networking website can go places, unlike what happened to Google Buzz. That was a misfortunate thing to happen. Hopefully this wouldn’t suffer the same fate!

Blood diamonds

Earlier, as I was cleaning up my drawer, I found an unlabeled DVD inside one of my folders. Curious, I took my laptop and browsed at the data. It was full of avi movies which have not watched before. I remembered that I asked one of my colleagues to lend me a movie. I guess I forgot about it and just kept it in my drawer. Unfortunately, I forgot the person whom I borrowed from.

Anyway, the movie was Blood Diamond. Starring Leonardo DiCaprio. The movie was a real eye opener for me. I never new that people would go to such evil extents just to get their hands on diamonds. In the movie, there were children brainwashed to kill even their parents. They were being converted by the rebels.

One of the great lessons here is to not buy diamonds from just anyone. Trusted sellers like diamonds international get their diamonds through legal mining areas and not through slavery. Next time you buy jewelry, make sure to ask if the diamonds are legal.
