Music and Exercise

fitness advice, health & technology, tips & tricks No Comments »

MP3 players nowadays are so common, that almost everyone has one. It’s great to listen to good music especially when you’re in the gym exercising.

Ever tried of doing a workout while listening to music? Your movements will automatically lock on to the beat without you knowing. Doing workouts with the beat of the music makes your reflexes react to the beat and give you that happy and energetic mood.

Music gives good motivation. It lets you concentrate more on your workout rather than on the stress you are feeling. It sort of distracts you from all the noise from the outside world, and makes you feel that you are in a world of your own. Researchers even linked music to nerve simulation. They pointed out that music increases tension in the muscles therefore making them work harder.

A bit of a warning though about listening to music: never play music loudly. It can do permanent damage to your ears. Also, earphones which are of the earplug type are not advisable. They can cause serious injury to the ears because of the pressure it gives to the eardrums. Better to use the hooked types or headphones.

Safe Toys for Children

Only a few days to go before thanksgiving holiday! Most of us will be visiting our far away relatives to celebrate with them this wonderful occasion. In our family, it has been a tradition to give gifts to our nephews and nieces. Children love receiving gifts especially toys.

Nowadays, consumers are warned to be very conscious when buying toys. There are currently lots of unsafe toys out in the market. Counterfeit toys may be cheaper and may look the same as the original, but the materials used in making these toys usually are toxic and harmful to children. Some of the common toxic materials found in these fake toys are lead, mercury and cadmium.

When buying toys, make sure they are well packaged. Look for the age bracket label and relevant warnings to know if the toys are appropriate for the children. Inspect the toys if they have sharp edges, and removable parts which can harm children. See if you can find a CE seal with the importer’s and manufacturers name outside the packaging. The CE mark is a sign that it is legally imported and inspected by trading officers. Most importantly, buy only in reputable shops and not from street vendors. This will give you a little guarantee that the toys you bought are of high quality.

Happy thanksgiving to you all!

Holiday Safety Shopping Tips

mumblings, tips & tricks 1 Comment »

The holiday season is up. Everyone’s rushing to the mall to buy new clothes, shoes, gifts, and home decorations. During these days, thieves and robbers are out loose and crime rates are in its peak. Mall owners usually double up their security personnel and upgrade their wireless security system for the safety of their customers. Although preventive security measures are being made by mall owners, it is still better to be conscious about our belongings while shopping.

With that, here are some safety shopping tips:

  • When going shopping, don’t wear unnecessary jewelry. Malls are expected to be crowded so better not have the hassle of checking your jewelry once often.
  • Bring only cash that you intend to spend. Or better yet, just bring a credit card.
  • If you brought a car, be sure to park in a secured parking lot.
  • Bring valuables with you and make sure that your car is locked.
  • Never leave your valuables in the baggage counter. If the guard insists on making you leave your bag in the counter, just tell him you have your money inside your bag. That way, he’ll just let you pass.
  • Be wary when using your cell phone. Someone could easily snatch it when you’re not careful.
  • Always check items at the counter, counter check bought items with the receipts to avoid hassle of complaining to customer service department.
  • Lastly, if possible, bring a friend with you to assist you in your shopping.

Happy holidays!

Scolio?

Do you know that a lot of people I know now have a mild scoliosis? This is because people nowadays don’t observe proper posture. You guys wouldn’t want to end up looking like gorillas, right?! So start standing and sitting up straight, and look like a normal person, for once!

I wouldn’t want to see everyone in this world soon enough to look like the hunchback of Notre Dame.

Don’t Forget Your Vitamins

A daily reminder: Remember to take vitamins everyday, especially vitamin C. There are a lot of diseases out in the world today, and prevention is always better than cure! It’s a lot better to take care of yourself first than taking care of others and seeing yourself end up as the one who got worse.

So if you want to help others, help yourself first.

Alcohol

A lot of people are addicted to alcohol, and I can say that I have had my fair share of alcohol stories. Alcohol may be some of the best times we may not even remember, and some of the worst we would want to forget.

I’m not asking all of you guys to stop drinking alcohol, I still drink alcohol, myself. All I’m advising you guys to do is to just drink socially. Especially the girls! You wouldn’t want the guys to think that you’re a cheapskate, wouldn’t you? Ha ha.

Did you know that maintaining good posture has a lot of benefits? Not only does it make you look good and help you boost self confidence, you can also prevent yourself from getting scoliosis–and you wouldn’t want that. My sixteen year-old sister has mild scoliosis and she looks a bit distorted because her right hip is protruding, but it isn’t that obvious if you don’t look that closely. She’s currently undergoing physical therapy to correct that though and to ensure that her scoliosis does not get worse.

So remember folks, maintain proper posture, it’s good for you!

Your teeth is one that most people see in you everyday. So make sure to brush your teeth all the time, because you’ll end up smelling like a sewer if you don’t! And that wouldn’t be nice.

Others wouldn’t like to hang out with you because you have a bad breath and all, and you wouldn’t want that, right? So start brushing and brushing and brushing!

Trendy but Cheap Prescription Glasses

tips & tricks No Comments »

I have been using eyeglasses since high school, and for every occasion I use a different one. I make it a point to wear eyeglasses that complement my appearance. Wearing glasses is a necessity for me but sometimes I feel that I’m spending too much on them that I’m losing track of my budget.

Recently my friend suggested to me these $ 8 Zenni Optical Rx Eyeglasses which her ophthalmologist recommended. I couldn’t believe her at first — eight-dollar prescription glasses?! So I checked out their website, ordered a pair and tried them. At first glance, the glasses look nice and classy. The Zenni eyeglasses were comfortable to wear and fits my face perfectly. The lenses are very clear while the frame is sturdy and well-fitted on the joints. What’s so great about it is that it doesn’t look like its eight dollars.

One would easily doubt the quality of these eyeglasses because of the cheap price, but really, the Zenni Optical glasses are well-built from high quality material. The reason why these glasses are inexpensive is because you are buying them direct from the manufacturer, no more additional costs from dealers and retailers.

They come in different types of frames and lenses. They also have a wide variety styles and color. I was very pleased with this product so I bought more to match my different outfits. I was very satisfied with this these prescription glasses so I would really recommend this product to all my friends. For me, the Zenni Optical glasses proved to be trendy, practical and easy on the budget. So go check it out!
