Sublimation –
making negative stress into positive actions

mental fitness, health & society, tips & tricks No Comments »

Do you know what’s worse than getting hormonal acne before or during “that time of the month”? The fact that your normal everyday stress is escalated preposterously!

I mean really, this week is already crazy-stressful enough as it is. But to have my period at the same time, it’s horrendous. Good thing my friend Mark sent me a link on stress management to help me deal with it. The article states that, “Stress affects our bodies and thoughts and can eventually kill us.” I agree. I also discovered that there’s actually a term for the method we use when we displace negative stresses into positive and useful actions – Sublimation. Amazing isn’t it?

Anyway, given my escalated crazy-stressful condition, I think I deserve a satisfying massage tonight and a day off tomorrow.

Wear skirts more often than skinny jeans

mumblings, tips & tricks, skin care No Comments »

My friend Angela and I recently went to a heavenly water spa. Of course, we had to wear swimsuits for that. While changing into our swimsuits, Angela and I got into talking about our health – skin care in particular.

Apparently, she’s been very conscious about her skin folds in between her thighs and groin area. It’s more dark than usual. I told her that according to my cousin, the most common cause for that is wearing of very tight breeches or skinny jeans and garterized underwear. This is because those produce friction in that area when you walk, which in turn causes skin darkening in that area.

Angela did acknowledge that she’s been wearing more skinny jeans than skirt nowadays. Consequently, she vowed to wear skirt more often instead.

Clearance sale everyone!

Hey guys! I found a great site online where you can buy computer stuff in an amazingly low price. Well I have not tried it yet, but based from their prices, it is like they are having a clearance sale every time!I found this site while looking for a cheap iPod portable speaker. I searched for clearance sale and it popped up in Google. In this site you’ll find some great deals on mostly gadgets and PC accessories. What I like about this site, aside from the low priced products, is the clean interface that will not confuse you in any way. I just love browsing to their discounted line of products. It’s just amazing.

See what happens when you disable blockers

mumblings, tips & tricks No Comments »

Pop-ups are certainly annoying but sometimes I kinda miss them. Since the pop-up blocker was invented, pop-up ads became a thing of the past. It’s like watching NFL without the commercial - boring. So for earlier I turned off my pop-up blocker and freely surfed the net hoping to find some interesting ads.It seems like there’s not much changed with the pop-ups. They are still mostly about online casinos, diet pills, and porn sites. But there is this one ad that caught my attention: natural testosterone From wikipedia,

“Testosterone is a steroid hormone from the androgen group. In mammals, testosterone is primarily secreted in the testes of males and the ovaries of females, although small amounts are also secreted by the adrenal glands. It is the principal male sexhormone and an anabolic steroid. Testosterone is evolutionarily conserved through most vertebrates, although fish make a slightly different form called 11-ketotestosterone.”

Come to think of it… if testosterone comes from male organs naturally, where does that “natural testosterone” pill extracted from? Also, what if women took those pills? heheAnyhow, I think I’ll reactivate my  pop-up blocker right now because I think I have seen enough porn ads now. But I admit, ads really are fun to read especially when you’re not in the mood to work.

Permanent goosebumps

tips & tricks, skin care No Comments »

It started out as a small white patch of skin in my left leg, a little itchy but I just ignored it. After a few weeks, it felt as if that patch of skin became rougher, as if it were permanent goosebumps. Usually people would go straight to the dermatologist when they encounter similar problems. I, however consult my know-it-all friend named Google.

Amazingly, when I searched for the term “permanent goosebumps” eczema was always part of the result. I’m usually the DIY person so instead f consulting my derma, I made myself a prescription for treatment of eczema. I hope it works for me. If not, then that’s the time I’ll go to my derma. I know not all of you will agree, but for non-abrasive and minimal skin treatments I’d ask Mr. G first.

Got myself an all-in-one card reader at last

tips & tricks No Comments »

It’s such a big hassle for me every time I leave my laptop at home because I have no way of retrieving my picture files from my camera and cellular phone. My desktop PC at the office has no built-in card reader so it’s basically useless for me. Oh just when I really need to upload some pictures… crap! Due to this small emergency, I was forced to  get a card reader for myself.I got an all-in-one card reader from an online shop which sells quality accessories for notebooks. The great thing about the one I bought is it already supports popular memory card types like micro sd, XD, memory stick, and even memory stick micro. I tested it and it works great on my desktop. Plus, it can be used as a keychain so it is very portable and convenient to use.Now I won’t need to bring my laptop to the office just to upload pictures from my camera. Anyhow, I have to go now. I need to upload these pics fast!

A good career trick

tips & tricks No Comments »

I just heard from Ruth, a good friend of mine, that her salary was tripled by her employer because of some strategy she learned from a career seminar. Most of employees believe that it is better to start their career in the bottom and earn their way up to the top. They think that eventually, while they are being promoted, they will gain a higher salary with the higher position. This is an idealistic approach to career according to Ruth. From what Ruth shared with me, if you want to earn more the first thing you need to do is become an indispensable asset of the company. By then you can demand more. What she did, she looked into Atlanta job search then applied in a company with a better offer. She showed her job offer to her boss and told him that she is planning to take it because of the fair salary. Her boss, realizing that it is hard to find another employee as better that Ruth, gave a counter offer. Of course, Ruth took the counter offer because she was already happy with her job and her only issue is the salary. As this does not apply to everyone, we must realize that Ruth did all her best to become an expert in her line of work. If she did not, her boss would probably just let her go or she might not have gotten a good job offer in the first place. The point here is, do your best in your work. If you think you have done your best already, better make your boss realize it.

Medreps know better

Looking for safe diet pills? Well, before asking your doctor, do some research in the internet first. Try the FDA site or medical forums that tackle weight loss just for reference. You may not know this but… doctors do not really know anything about the pills they are giving.

As this may not be entirely true, doctors really do not know anything about the medicines they are giving. They just rely on data given to them by representatives from drug manufacturers a.k.a. Medreps. When Medreps say, “hey this drug has no known sideffects” doctors just believe them. Until a patient starts complaining about it.

Of course, when doctors gain experience, they start to learn the effects of the drugs by their composition. Although this takes a lot of trials (and errors).

Anyhow, that’s just a tip from a Medrep friend of mine. Hope it helps.

It meant BUSINESS!

Mon, Myka, Gab, Anj, Mike, Carlo, and me, decided to go to the gym together two weeks ago. Six of us got their early and decided to have some snacks at the cafeteria while we wait for Mike. It wasn’t gonna be one of those serious days in the gym, we were just going to have fun while burning a few calories together. When Mike came we immediately saw a what we call an adult acne.

Yes, it was a full grown acne and it meant business. He was so pissed at it because basically he was going out on a date in a week’s time and that amount of time will not make a serious acne like that go away magically.

I had a perfect remedy for such a situation like that. What I would do was ice it in the morning and at night after washing my face. Dab on some lemon juice and take vitamin C. He did it religiously and in a week’s time it was barely there.

He ended up booking another date with that girl this weekend. And so far, things are looking good.

Cheers to 2010 savings!

It’s 2010. Currently on top of my New Year’s Resolution, contending with Asian Cruise, is to be able to save 300,000 before I turn 28. Robert Kiyosaki said, “If you want to go somewhere, it is best to find someone who has already been there.

At the moment, my friend and financial manager, Mark, is my role model in anything finance related. He’s been able to wheedle out of almost all finance charges and annual credit card fees most of the time. This is because he is knowledgeable about how the fees and interest works, and thus was able to make it work for him. Imagine getting to use your credit cards without worrying about annual fees and finance charges… you’ll definitely be able to save a lot!

Since I met him, he’s been giving me lots of tips on budgeting as well. So far, I have been able to apply his advices. In fact, just this month, I was able to save money by having my three credit cards waive my annual fee! Amazing isn’t it?

With his help, I’m positive my aim to have the 300K will materialize soon! ^_^
