Safer to use branded accessories

tips & tricks No Comments »

I am an iPhone lover but not that big of an iPad fan. I am amazed though of the cool ipad accessories available in the market like the ipad keyboard, skins, and stands. Right now I have a tablet PC already so I will not be getting an ipad anytime soon.
Anyway, when buying ipad accessories, make sure you get the branded ones and not those generic brands. I have a friend who had his ipad sent back to Apple because it was not able to turn on after he installed a generic keyboard. Good thing it was still in warranty, however he will not be getting his data and apps back with the replacement.
It is true that branded ipad accessories
cost more but this is because of the good quality of the materials used. More so, usually manufacturers of branded accessories get certifications from Apple itself so you will not have to worry about compatibility issues. Just as an advice, if you love your iPad, get only original stuff for it.

Do It Yourself, Be Yourself

I have been very interested in fashion since I was a teenager, and I can say that I love DIY stuff most.

Not only are they original, this means that you would be the only one who has them! Being unique has never even felt this good before.

Most of my friends ask me where I bought my stuff, and they stare at me incredulously when I tell them I made them myself.

I just buy jewelry making supplies and clothes from thrift shops, and voila! Instant makeover!

Just make sure you actually know what you’re doing, pins and needles hurt when they are not handled properly! If you have no clue, try asking a friend who knows. Google is also your best friend, don’t ever forget that!

This can save you from spending a lot of money without having to sacrifice looking cheap and being able to express yourself. :)

Kids!

My sister just got married last February, and I just couldn’t stop myself from thinking about grandkids.

Imagine how down I felt when she told me that she and her husband don’t have plans to take care of a kid anytime soon.

I just couldn’t stop myself from thinking how adorable kids are, and how I’d like to just squeeze their chubby little cheeks until they’re all red and even cuter.

I think I fell in love with BOB revolution strollers. They’re just so handy and practical. They make outdoor activities even easier since you can put so much stuff inside them instead of carrying over nine thousand bags while walking a rocky terrain.

I have also heard many good things about this stroller. My friends told me that this is one of the good quality ones, and that it’s worth all your money.

This definitely is one thing all the outdoor freaks and parents out there would love.

Just a tip - coupon codes

tips & tricks No Comments »

When shopping online, always check if there is a coupon code input box before checking out your shopping cart. Coupons are discount codes given to some limited people but sometimes you can also find the coupons on the net. For instance, just earlier, I purchase three domain names in Go Daddy and applied the coupon before paying. I just searched Google for “coupon code go daddy” and voila! I just paid two bucks for each! Instant discount! Oh forgot to mention that the regular price of a domain name is 7 bucks each.I think amazon also has these kinds of discounts scattered all over the net. It’s just a matter of “googling” the right keywords. I know lots of people know this already but for some, this will really help a lot.

De-stressing through Music therapy

tips & tricks No Comments »

Mental stress can really wear even an athlete down. Even though you get regular exercise, or if you have an active lifestyle, when you face very tight deadlines, you will surely feel your body getting weaker and weaker. In my case, when I am under a lot of stress, I get skin allergies and rashes, which is not weird by the way. I have seen other people with the same situation too.Anyhow, as my manager says, stress is just a matter of perspective. If you think you are pressured, but you are happy with your work, you certainly wont feel the stress. Which reminds me of something I read in an article called “Music therapy”. The article talks about the benefits of listening to music when stressed out. In summary, music as some positive effects on our brainwaves and bodily rhythm. My boss also agrees with this so he allows us employees to use MP3 players while working. Even I agree to this. Listening is a passive sense and it does not really distract your thinking, provided you do not listen to Justine Beiber. Peace! Hehehe

tips & tricks, skin care No Comments »

Keep this in mind especially when you are tempted to try a new product or a new remedy you read or heard about. If you try anything without doing the least bit of research and knowing the condition of your skin, your skin might just end up worse than before. So, I repeat, not all acne treatments are good!

So, how do you know if it is a good acne treatment? First, if reputable people or websites are saying it, like medical websites or websites of naturopathic doctors. This is one way of assuring yourself that indeed not only are the acne treatments recommended effective but also safe.

Also, know the condition of your skin. Is it sensitive? Do you have allergies? Find out products or home remedies that are good for and not harmful to your skin.

With a little research, you will find the best acne treatment for you from all of the acne treatments you read or hear about.

On the importance of prenatal vitamins for newlyweds

tips & tricks, health & diet, food & nutrition No Comments »

My friend Rei recently got married, and no, it’s not a gunshot wedding - she’s not pregnant. It was a happy-romantic wedding. ^_^

With the couple being very career oriented, Rei told me, they have no plans on having kids for the next two years. Given that she’s only 25, it does seem practical. However, even with thorough planning and a combination of safe sex methods, pregnancy is still a possibility – especially for a newlywed couple. So, just to be on the safe side, I told her to start taking a daily prenatal vitamin.

For those who don’t know, prenatal vitamins are specially formulated multivitamins that is designed with pregnancy and breastfeeding in mind. While the supplements contain numerous vitamins and minerals, their folic acid, iron, and calcium content are especially important. These vitamins and minerals help reduce your risk of having a baby with a serious birth defect since a lot of defects develop in the first 28 days after conception – the time before many women realize they are pregnant.

So for the newlyweds, do consider prenatal vitamins at the onset of marriage. 0;) After all, you want to reproduce healthy, adorable babies, don’t you?

Text blasting

mumblings, tips & tricks No Comments »

You probably experienced the annoying popups and ads in your internet browser. But these days, browsers have managed to block to popups or at least filter most of them. However a new form of ad spamming has emerged, and this time there’s no way to filter it.
You all know about SMS right? Short message service? Yep that. It is becoming increasingly popular among the teens these days. It is a fast and low cost alternative to email. This is why it is now used as a means to advertise products hence text blasting.

Almost everyday I receive text advertisements about weight loss products, health supplements, and even cash loans. Advertisers use a software that connects to a cellular phone to automate sending of text ads to a range of numbers. Some people may call it spamming but this is definitely more ethical and legal. I’m sure that in the near future many advertisers will follow the text ad trend so be ready for early morning texts offering you mortgage loans and stuff like that.

How to deal with Nasal Allergy

fitness advice, tips & tricks No Comments »

Definition of terms:

An allergy is a hypersensitivity to a foreign substance that is usually harmless but produces a violent reaction in the allergy sufferer. Allergies are generally the body’s effort to eliminate something it considers unsuitable.

There are various types of allergies and hundreds of causes which can trigger them. However, I’m unfortunate enough to have one of the most common types: Nasal allergies.

For those who don’t know, nasal allergies basically refer to the interaction of allergens with cells within the lining of the nose. Some of the common symptoms of this type of allergy are nasal itching, nasal stuffiness with subsequent difficulty breathing and sneezing, clear, watery nasal discharge, and coughing.

Unfortunately for me as well, I’m allergic to perfumes – especially the fruity-sweet or flowery type. As with all the allergies, the most important step in finding allergy relief is avoiding the allergen. However, this is often not possible on cases such as mine – especially with more and more women getting into the fruity-scent fad *argh!*. It’s a good thing though that my family has been very considerate with my condition and opted not to wear those type of scents (or use them only when I’m not in the same room). Otherwise, I’d always be in a bout of sneezing – very unflattering, really, not to mention distractive.

For those unable to do something to avoid their nasal allergens, you can try other methods of treatment such as the common oral antihistamines, antihistamines, and nasal steroid sprays.

In case you’re into exercise as well, it has been said that Yoga can also help overcome the problem of nasal allergy. According to a yoga article I’ve read, nasal allergy is considered as a manifestation of a minor imbalance in Prana. Consequently, they get very quick results in persons who undertake the practice or Integrated Approach of Yoga Therapy.

Believe it or not, a simple daily dosage of Vitamin C can also help! ;)

How to avoid getting back acne from sweating

tips & tricks, skin care No Comments »

With the global warming, summer heat intensified more than usual this year. Consequently, with the intensified heat comes profuse, inevitable sweating. Unfortunately for me, excessive sweating means saying hello again to back acne and goodbye to tank tops, sleeveless, and spaghetti straps :( .

Then again, I will not have the sun win over me! In search for the best treatment for adult acne, back acne from sweat in particular, I decided to do some research and encountered 3 tips on How to Avoid Getting Back Acne From Sweat:

  • For people who tend to sweat a lot or are prone to sweat like athletes, make sure to use non-clinging, light clothing like those made from cotton. This is because some materials like lycra and wool trap the sweat and can irritate the skin, which can aggravate the problem.
  • It is very important to remove the sweat, so do take a bath whenever you get really sweaty.
  • Especially during summer or when exposed to prolonged heat, it is very important to change your shirt several times a day. This will help prevent bacteria from building up from the dirt or sweat that have accumulated on the shirt.
