Wear skirts more often than skinny jeans

My friend Angela and I recently went to a heavenly water spa. Of course, we had to wear swimsuits for that. While changing into our swimsuits, Angela and I got into talking about our health – skin care in particular.

Apparently, she’s been very conscious about her skin folds in between her thighs and groin area. It’s more dark than usual. I told her that according to my cousin, the most common cause for that is wearing of very tight breeches or skinny jeans and garterized underwear. This is because those produce friction in that area when you walk, which in turn causes skin darkening in that area.

Angela did acknowledge that she’s been wearing more skinny jeans than skirt nowadays. Consequently, she vowed to wear skirt more often instead.

The wonders of concealers

When I went home yesterday night, I was shocked to see our neighbor’s babysitter, Marienel. She looked like she’s been crying all day. Concerned, I hesitantly approached her and asked what happened. She blankly stared at me and said, “Huh?”

I shared my observation about her looking like she’s been crying all day and the creases in her forehead increased in confusion. I just raised my eyebrows in question and concern. Then surprisingly, she laughed, hard. I thought she was going crazy, then she said, “It’s the eye concealer!”

This time, I was the one who gave her a blank stare. Marienel continued while giggling, “I forgot to put on my eye concealer that’s why my eye bags are all dark and I look like I’ve been crying.” Ah-hah! So that’s the culprit.

Frankly though, proper application of a good eye wrinkle cream with whitening action would be more helpful than using concealers. What do you think?

The secret recipe to staying young and pretty

On my way to my room, I was surprised to hear my sister Anne wail out my name. She sounded really in despair so I immediately ran to her room. When I opened the door, I saw her freaking out on a tiny, almost unnoticeable wrinkle in her eye.

I didn’t know whether to strangle her for making me worry, or laugh out of relief because apparently, it wasn’t THAT bad. Anyway, she was really worried about looking old, so I recommended the best eye cream I’ve tried and tested so far. Yes, she hasn’t been using moisturizer and eye cream.

Frankly, at her age, using moisturizer and eye cream is already a given. Add sun block to your daily face regimen as well. Those three are the secret recipe to staying young and pretty!

On taking vitamins to treat acne

As of this moment, people are still unable to pinpoint the main cause for acne. However, that shouldn’t stop you from finding the solution to ridding yourself of acne. After all, a clean, soft, and clear skin will help boost one’s confidence in more ways than you can imagine.

Currently, most acne treatments are concentrating on treating the most common contributor - excess oil. However, I encountered a research which found the scientific links proving that vitamin deficiencies often contribute to major acne breakouts as well. Consequently, they have developed acne vitamins.

Some say they’re finally seeing results from that treatment, and the best part is that it doesn’t involve harsh chemicals. Then again, it’s still better to consult your dermatologist first before trying anything.

Level up to rejuvenating cream

My dermatologist recently had me switch from acne cleanser to rejuvenating cream. The cream is actually quite expensive. Then again, at this age, it’s high time I start using one. After all, my skin cells is not that healthy as it was when I was just in my teens.

Moreover, I need to be more careful on what I put on my face - from make up content to make up remover. You can never be too careful. When in doubt on what facial product to use, again, just have your dermatologist go over the content.

Permanent goosebumps

It started out as a small white patch of skin in my left leg, a little itchy but I just ignored it. After a few weeks, it felt as if that patch of skin became rougher, as if it were permanent goosebumps. Usually people would go straight to the dermatologist when they encounter similar problems. I, however consult my know-it-all friend named Google.

Amazingly, when I searched for the term “permanent goosebumps” eczema was always part of the result. I’m usually the DIY person so instead f consulting my derma, I made myself a prescription for treatment of eczema. I hope it works for me. If not, then that’s the time I’ll go to my derma. I know not all of you will agree, but for non-abrasive and minimal skin treatments I’d ask Mr. G first.

On ageing and creams

Being in my mid-twenty’s, I’m becoming more and more careful on what I put on my skin. After all, at this age, I’m now more prone to wrinkles and dark spots. My friends have been using creams and moisturizers to prevent fine lines and wrinkles. I’m still checking out other facial creams and going through some wrinkle treatment reviews. There are those creams that really targets your age - 20 plus, 30 plus, etc.

Of course, you’d want to buy something that’s targeted specifically to meet your requirements right? Then again, be very careful when selecting creams. They might do more harm than good if you end up using the wrong one. In general, the best you can do of course is to seek advice from your dermatologist first so he/she can check out the contents of your desired cream before putting it on.

On getting in the good graces of your doctor

The day before my sister’s wedding, I went to my dermatologist for a blackhead removal session. My mom was laughing at me saying I’m spending too much time pretty-fying myself more than the bride. I just smiled sweetly at my mom and told her that the derma session has been scheduled for months. My dermatologist was just nice enough to take into consideration the schedule of my sister’s wedding - thus the appointment.

It’s really great to be in good rapport with your doctor. My dermatologist, for example, really timed all my facial sessions to make sure that I look great for the wedding. Isn’t that thoughtful of her? I also receive some special discounts from her and even free sessions! So, next time you visit your doctor, try to be in his/her good graces. After all, he/she can definitely help improve yourself and your lifestyle in more ways than you can imagine.

Benzoyl Peroxide, what is it?

I kept hearing about Benzoyl Peroxide as acne treatment. What I do know is that it is used for bleaching hair and teeth. Yesterday, when I encountered its review from tazorac, I was finally enlightened. Benzoyl Peroxide is actually the most popular acne treatment available in the market nowadays. This is because it has been clinically proven to work and is often recommended in prescription form by many dermatologists.

Then again, we need to keep in mind that it has side effects like dependency, irritation, and even allergies. So for those who have not used it yet, especially for those with sensitive skin, it is best to seek advice from your trusted dermatologist first. After all, what works for one person may not necessarily work for another. What’s worse is that it may even do harm than good to you.

So it’s not just the genes

If there’s one thing I envy about other girls, it is the soft flowing hair. As my mom always told me, “it’s their genes dear”. She always says that when I compare myself to others. I asked a friend of mine, who is a dermatologist, about how to keep my air and skin as beautiful as others. She told me that, genes do play a role in having glowing skin and nice hair but one big factor to consider is nutrition.Hair and skin need almost the same nutrients. Having a high vitamin E diet can really make your skin glow, that is if you keep yourself hydrated with lots of fruit juices. Good sleep and lots of exercise will also help your body detoxify which also make you look and feel better. Supplements such as metathiones and vitamins for hair are also available, however it is always better to consult your physician first. These supplements claim to make the skin fairer and the hair shiny and soft although you must be aware that some brands my have side effects to some people.
