Baby crazy!

Is there a way to handle birth announcements online?

My sister in law just gave birth to my first ever nephew and I am really excited! I even rushed to the hospital in between classes just to hold the baby boy and take photos of it. She looks so happy even though she went through fourteen hours of labor. I guess there’s no other feeling that you get rather than relief and pride when you realize that your pregnancy went well.

You know how people always say that babies are cute? I am going to have to disagree with that because there are a lot of babies that I have seen that aren’t really cute. I dare say that my nephew is the best looking baby out there right now. He is just so adorable and I want to squish him!

I do hope I find my prince charming soon because I want to have babies NOW! Hahaha, just kidding!

Thrifting over Brands

Have you seen the series called “Jersey Shore”? A lot of my friends watch it and I find it intellectually disturbing. I mean, it’s a show about rich people doing nothing but waste their money and party all day and night. The only good thing that I find in this show would be the Ed Hardy products. The brand offers some unique styles and I just can’t get enough of them.

My sister showed me this replica ed hardy store once, and I was quite amused. They sold goods similar to the original brand but with cheaper prices. Some of you might opt to buy from this branch, so I guess it’s worth checking out.

I myself prefer thrift stores over brands, they offer a wider range of styles and you get to have a big assurance that you most probably will be one of the very few people who have that specific item.

Sometimes television shows worry me about what the future generation will see on tv.

Up for halloween

I have been engaged in a very busy project at work that I lost track of time. I did not realize that Halloween is fast approaching. Big deal right? Well our family have a tradition of celebrating Halloween in one another’s houses. It happens in rotation and there is no excuse. Everyone will host a party or else…

It has been always fun though. This event is sort of a reunion for us and we always make it special. I remembered last year when all of us attended the even. Grandma was so pleased she made a speech and wept for joy. It really makes our family bond.

Anyway, my problem now is I have only a few weeks to plan for the party and I do not even have a theme. I also have to buy holiday cards and treats for my guests. I am not very fond of the ghosts and ghouls theme. Oh, how about a superhero theme? Justice league or avengers perhaps (you do not want Mightor running around your kitchen right?)

Oh well… I guess I have to start doing and stop thinking now.

Kitchen nightmares – my favorite

If there is one TV series I find very addictive these days, it has got to be Gordon Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares. Did you say why? Just watch and you’ll see. After a few episodes you will probably want to apply for Pastry/Baker Chef Jobs.

Gordon Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares is a reality TV series about Restaurants in the brink of bankruptcy. Gordon’s role here is to rescue the restaurants by helping them identify their flaws and thereby helping to resolve them. The catch is, he only has one week to resolve the problems and give the restaurants another jump start.

Actually the thing I like most about these series is that it teaches proper management. In most episodes, the real problem is actually the upper management. Everything error trickles down to the lowest level employee and boom, the restaurant is in trouble. I even apply some of Gordon’s techniques at work. Even though I am in IT, my role as a supervisor is somehow similar to the role of the chef. My office is basically my kitchen. Everyone in the team have a role to play and I must lead them well in order to produce quality work.

Oh well… off to season 3 now…

Planning to sell my car

mumblings No Comments »

Eighteen inch chrome mags, leather interior, dub custom wheels, and a cute angry bird doll hanging beside the rear mirror. Yep, I had my ride pimped!

Last week I got my mid year bonus so I had my car fixed. Since I got this car from my Dad, I haven’t got the money to have it fixed. Some things were just priorities and the car was last on my list. So when I had the chance, I did some renovation. I had everything cleaned. All the worn and torn things were discarded and replaced by new ones. Even the air conditioning that did not work for 10 years is working now. Actually, the idea is to sell the car. Yes it had sentimental values but hey, it is a car. It already served my family for so long and it deserves something new in her life. Well I deserve something new. Like a new Chevy or a BMW.

Of course I consulted my dad first. He did not mind me selling the car. He told me that he gave it to me so it is my responsibility. He don’t care if I crash it or sell it. So I got it all figured out.

Keep your muddy shoes off the car please

Don’t you just hate it when someone hops in your car with muddy shoes? For me, it is the most terrible “inside car crime” anyone can commit (next to farting).
Last week, my friends and I tried my new Jeep on a road trip near the mountains. It was fun. We even had a picnic by the river. However when we went back to the Jeep,
they did not shake off the mud on their shoes. Since they were my friends, I just ignored it. But then when I got home, my Jeep looked like a total mess.

How could I tell them that they need to keep their muddy shoes off the Jeep? Of course I could not. So what I did was just bought a set of jeep custom floor mats so that I could easily clean up the Jeep at the end of the day.
It is really hard to confront friends right?

Birthday Gift!

It’s my friend’s birthday this week, and I am having trouble looking for a decent gift to get her.

We’re not really that close, so I don’t know much about her interests, but I’d like to get to know her more, so I started looking for deals on gifts online. If I order tonight, I could probably get it shipped here the day before her birthday!

I really have no idea what to get her, I’d buy a mug, but that’s too generic. I want to make her think that I’ve put a little effort into deciding what kind of gift to get her.

Hmmm, do you guys have any ideas? I’d love to hear them, I’m in a state of panic at the moment, I might just have to stick with the mug if all else fails. I’d get her a personalized shirt, but I don’t really know her size. :(

Why is gift giving so hard?

Google Plus

Have you seen the new Google Plus? It’s amazing, I must say. As a lot of people have pointed out, it’s pretty much the same as Facebook, but it has a lot of quirky features on its own.

Take Circles, for example. Everyone isn’t just your friend, they fall under some category in which you choose for yourself, and you get to choose to share your information with a specific set of people and not everyone who has added you to their list.

One of the things I like most about Google Plus is the hangouts. It’s similar to conference call hosting, but it includes videos, much like Skype, and it updates your page and your friends’ streams if you just came from a hangout.

I think this social networking website can go places, unlike what happened to Google Buzz. That was a misfortunate thing to happen. Hopefully this wouldn’t suffer the same fate!

Impulsiveness

My friend John started taking up bartending lessons. He’s always had a knack for mixing alcoholic drinks, and when he saw a bartender performing random tricks while throwing bottles around, he was pretty amazed and wanted to take the class up immediately.

He’s pretty impulsive, and that’s what makes him one of a kind.

I kind of want to get him a “Good Luck on Your Class, hope you stick with it till the end” kind of gift, haha. Do you guys have any Bar Accessory Gift Ideas? I might just get him an instant wine chiller, but I think he’s not really a big fan of wine.

I kind of want to take the lessons myself, but knowing me, I know I’d get bored of it after the first three meetings. I’m still quite at a loss with regards to what I want to do with my life.

MAYBE I’M SUFFERING A MID LIFE CRISIS!

Uh oh. Anyone have any advice for me?

Some printer info we do not know

mumblings No Comments »

Since yesterday I was reading some articles about the pro’s and con’s of inkjet printers and laser printers. I was tasked to buy a printer for the office but I must provide a procurement documentation  - why I chose the printer model.

Reading the articles, I learned a lot of things about printers. In summary here are some great printer information we usually do not know.

Printers have a limit on how many pages it can print – no it is not because of the limited amount of ink but really printers have a hardware counter that shuts down the printer after x number of pages. This means that no matter how robust your printer is, it will still end up junk after the limit.

Printers are disposable. Yes it is true that ink cartridges or laser toners are replaceable however, if you take into consideration the cost of a new set of cartridges or laser toners, you will notice that it is the same price of a new printer with free ink. So then what would you buy right? Besides, a little dust can already ruin your printer so better to buy a new printer then.

Lastly, photo printers are not very efficient. If you are to print a large number of pictures, just go to the nearest print store. You will sure to have better prints on better paper than at home. Plus it rids you the hassle of editing the picture contrast and stuff.

So those were just some interesting information that I bet not all of us know. Hope you picked something from my article. Ciao!
