Hospitals

fitness advice, mental fitness No Comments »

As I was walking around in the hospital watching over my sick aunt, I couldn’t help but notice how simple their kitchen blinds were, yet still so pleasing to the eye.

I’ve always loved hospitals, they have such a quiet and simple feel to them. Everyone is usually so quiet and reserved, and everything is neat and organized. (Who would want to check in a hospital that’s dirty and in a huge mess, anyway, right?)

You can blame my mild OCD for loving things like this, I guess. I’ve always thought that my dream house would be modern and minimal one day, it would be easy to maintain, but still beautiful, in it’s own way.

I guess people fear hospitals for the fact that some treatments are painful, and the thought of death threatens them, but I just choose to see things from a different point of view. It’s actually good for the health not to stress yourself too much.

Youthful Dreams

Ever since we were kids, young, youthful and naive, my cousin has always dreamed about being a doctor. She’d play house with us with fake stethoscopes and pretend she can hear our heartbeats, and tell us we’re sick, giving us orange juice and prescribing chocolate once a day.

I found it amazing that at such a young age she has been able to decide what kind of future she wanted. When I was about to enter college I had a hard time choosing what course I should take up, simply because I couldn’t make up my mind. Right now she is preparing for her board exam, and I wish her luck.

She told me she wanted an administration job because she wanted to work for the government and serve people. She actually chose to help people over money, and this still amazes me to this very moment.

Knowing the fact that medicine is quite an expensive road to trek in our world, and most people who take that up find themselves shifting to nursing simply because it is more convenient just saddens me. My cousin told me that thought never crossed her mind, and this inspired me more.

I just cross my fingers that she achieve her lifelong dream with great success and happiness.

Dressing Up

Have you ever been a kid who never cared about the way she looked just as long as she was comfortable?

I’ve always been that way since I was young, and I can say that it wasn’t so bad. After a few years of going out wearing nothing but jeans, sneakers and a shirt, I got bored of it and discovered that girly clothes and shoes aren’t necessarily uncomfortable as long as you don’t buy cheap and poor quality ones.

I started wearing cardigan sweaters and pumps, and I can say many people have complimented me on how I look. Not only did I feel pretty, my ego also had a huge boost! Nothing really feels better than knowing you’re out there looking your best.

A little makeup won’t hurt, and wearing dresses make you more attractive! Trust me, this is based from personal experience.

The Sims 3

I have recently been quite addicted to playing The Sims 3 for the fact that I can make beautiful houses in it.

Most of my dream homes can now be found in my town, thank god for mods!

This game not only is enjoyable, but it also helps you exercise creativity and to help you budget time!

As I was buying furniture from my home one day, I couldn’t help but notice how the faucet looking like one of the Moen kitchen faucets. It really is amazing how these pixels resemble real life objects.

Always remember that real life is a lot better than simulation, though! That probably is one of the things most people who play this game forget often.

This is definitely a game I would recommend anyone who enjoys making things to play.

On overtime and efficiency

It’s been a month now since I’ve join my second company. I really love my work right now. I literally get paid for doing something I love.

And my COO, Lee Ann, is the best! She’s the type of boss who thinks it’s very important that her managers do not get burned out with overtime. To her, anything that can be delegated should be delegated. Any tasks that can be improved for it to be accomplished faster should be improved. She wants us to just supervise and do strategic planning. She also ordered us to inform her whenever we feel like we’re drowning or going to be burned out before we drown or burn out.

Of course, there will be times where we will need to do over time. Like what happened to me – I worked for two weeks straight including weekends - first time I did in this lifetime. I can already feel myself getting fat due to lack of exercise that I’m now close to buying apidexin just to keep myself from blowing up.

However, I’m so relieved that Lee Ann’s not in favor of killing her managers with too much work (unlike my CEO in my previous company). During our operations meeting, she said there’s no need to prove ourselves to her because she already knows our capabilities. Thank God! I don’t want to be like the other managers who work 13 hours a day every day. I never really did get that. For me, the more you spend working after your scheduled work hours means the more inefficient you are. You should be able to finish your tasks within work hours.

Now, whenever Lee Ann calls for overtime on a weekend and it’s not really that crucial and I do feel burned out, I can say, without guilt, as my friend Mark had advised, that “I’d love to, but I already have plans for the weekend. I’m willing to work extra hours during work days though.” ^_^

Moon bathing

After the storm had passed last week, aside from the usual damages to our trees, the only downside was the blackout in the entire city. It was okay though, because there was no work the next day and I get to have one of those few rare moments where I’m able to hangout on our roof top and enjoy the brilliance of the stars and moon. I call this moon bathing.

Thanks to the blackout, the stars that night were shining more radiantly than usual - literally looking like loose diamonds that you can easily pick out one by one.

I remember in our previous house/condo where I had to share my room with my sisters; during my I-need-space times, I found refuge in the condo’s rooftop at night. It became my place of solitude. Now that I have my own room, basking in the moon and stars glory has been very rare for me. I should do that more often. It’s very uplifting.

Under the spotlight

I don’t really understand why people love to be under spotlights so much. I know most of us want privacy, and famous people don’t get to have that.

What’s worse is the fact that if you are famous, every little mistake you make will be seen by the public and frowned upon. I’m surprised at how many of the people in the big screen handle these. I myself am weak at heart so I know I cannot succumb to the life of someone rich and famous.

Sure, being rich and famous has its perks. I love pretty shoes and clothes, and most famous people get to have sponsors that let them wear whatever they want, I just don’t really find it emotionally healthy.

I guess most of them just live by the fact that they can’t please everyone. The question is how do they live with that? Who wouldn’t want to please everyone, anyway?

I have been quite a big fan of the fashion industry since I was a prepubescent, so I know all of this quite well. Being famous isn’t always about the pretty clothes, face, and shoes.

What is Enzyte?

mumblings, mental fitness No Comments »

enzyte is an herbal nutritional supplement manufactured to help men with “size problems”.

Penis size has been a very sensitive issue since the start of time. I guess a product to help the less fortunate ones in this area wouldn’t be so surprising.

It’s this kind of thinking that often lead men to resort to these products, and I don’t think we should judge men by their size, but it always helps make us women happy, on the other hand!

Here’s a little tip to all the men out there though: Size doesn’t count, it’s the performance that matters. ;)

On glowing and looking radiant from within

mental fitness, tips & tricks, health & beauty No Comments »

At the department store, browsing for my usual beauty products, I realized that I’ve been spending a load of cash just to prettify myself. The anti wrinkle cream on my hand could already pay for my dinner for one week! Then I realize that instead of spending too much money on making myself look pretty, I should be doing something from within – something that would make me glow and look radiant. I need to relax.

I have been thinking of resigning for the longest time now. But my mind has been hazy with a lot of hang ups and payables. A week off from work to think about what I really want is the best way to be able to make a clear and firm decision. I expect that with my vacation, I’ll be happy and resolved with what I want to happen with my life – then I’ll start glowing with happiness.

“Every now and then go away, have a little relaxation, for when you come back to your work your judgment will be surer. Go some distance away because then the work appears smaller and more of it can be taken in at a glance and a lack of harmony and proportion is more readily seen.”

Plan all the way to the end

mumblings, mental fitness, tips & tricks No Comments »

Now that I have deduced that it’s time to move on, I made a list of things to do before leaving my company. As with everything, it is very important that you plan things, and not just plan ahead, but plan all the way to the end.

Some of the action plan in my list may or may not be applicable to you, but I want to share it all the same:

  1. Update your resume and post it in reputable job-finding sites online. If you already have target companies, then submit it there also. You cannot have one-too-many options. The more options, the better.
  2. Ensure that you have a savings of at least three (3) months worth of your salary. You will need this in case your new dream company turns out to be one horrible nightmare you need to get out of asap. After all, you wouldn’t want to end up running tabs and depleting your prepaid credit cards.
  3. Bid your time and wait for the nearest big bonus from your current company to add up to your savings. The higher your savings is, the more confident you will be in your decision to get out of your current company.
  4. Lastly, before accepting a job offer, do in-depth research about the company you are considering. Check out forums discussing that company. It would be great if you can talk to several employees of that company for a background check as well. This will help save you from the regret of ever quitting your previous job.
  5. Once you’ve found THE job for you, stay at it, do your best, and never look back.

Never begin anything until you have reflected what will be the end of it.
