Getting bikini-ready

It’s not only the fat or the cellulite in the tummy or the wobbly legs, or proper bikini waxing, that women are concerned about during bikini season. For some women, it’s those red and unsightly pimples on the back that go redder and redder as the sun gets hotter during the summer.

So what to do? In some cases, a soap bar with salicylic acid does the trick. Also, stop using heavy moisturizing shampoos. Opt for those with a mild formula. The suds and bubbles that run down your back as you wash your hair can be responsible for that back acne.

You can also try using a body acne wash. Read up on the reviews in the net, ask friends. There are good affordable brands out there. You just have to look.

If your back acne is a recurring problem, though, better consult a dermatologist.

Of course, all these measures are best taken months before you don your bikini.

More acne?!

I still haven’t quite found the type of acne treatment that I actually am pleased with.

I have tried pills and creams, all to no avail. I got recommendations from my friends, their products seem to have worked wonders on them, but not for me.

I’m actually beginning to think that my acnes have this “treatment immunity”, everything just doesn’t work on it!

Do you have any products to recommend? I am very close to arriving at the point of desperation.

But then again, since the dawn of acne problems, acne treatment relies mainly on discipline, and how well you follow your dermatologist’s advice.. and that is something that I still haven’t gotten the hang of, and it upsets my dermatologist so.

I’ll start working on that, then.

What kinds of acne treatments have you tried, and what are the results? Feel free to comment and share your experiences with everyone else.

The Quest for the Perfect Product

health & beauty No Comments »

My skin has recently been suffering symptoms like dryness and flakiness. I visited my dermatologist and she recommended me some facial moisturizers and sunscreen products.

I tried each one of them, and googled a few, myself, and wrote down the pros and cons of each product. You can click here if you wish to see a website I visited in the middle of my research.

Trying all these products cost me quite a lot, but finding out the perfect product for me was definitely worth all that cash that I spent, buying and testing random products that I find. I do not recommend this for people who have extremely sensitive skin, however.

If you find any disturbing symptoms in your skin, do not be afraid to visit your dermatologist. Don’t wait for your skin rashes to get complications, treat it while it’s still early. Trust me, you’ll be saving a lot more than if you waited and hoped for it to heal itself.

Botox for wrinkles

health & beauty No Comments »

Wrinkles are inevitable. No matter how often you take anti-oxidants, or how moisturized your face is, you will eventually get wrinkles. However in certain cases, wrinkles can be caused by over stretching of the skin by the facial muscles. This is common around the eyes. In this situation you might need to get a botox treatment. Botox, as explained to me by my derma, is a drug that is injected in the facial muscles that will cause the paralysis of the muscles. When used in combination of an anti wrinkle eye cream, the wrinkles can disappear within months.

However since botox paralyzes the muscles, you will have some difficulty with your facial expressions. As this depends on the extent of the treatment, the change in facial expression is noticeable. Fortunately, the botox is only intended to “rest” your muscles just for a short while (about three months or so). The effect of the drug subsides and you will have your old facial expression back.

Getting rid of wrinkles

I remember my mom talking to herself in the mirror asking it how to get rid of wrinkles. I was young then so I did not understand why she did not like wrinkles on her face. Now, I come to ask the same thing too. I already notice the wrinkles on my face and it is starting to bug me. I know I’m only in my early twenties but I think prevention is better that cure. I have to do something to prevent more wrinkles from forming. Good thing Google had lots of suggestions for me:

  • Good sleeping habits – Ideally, one should get up before 8 am and go to bed before 10:30. This has something to do with the body’s cycle and keeping it regular makes your skin vibrant
  • Green leafy bitter veggies – stop thinking that coleslaw is the only salad that exists. Try the bitter vegetables, it makes your blood circulation better, making your skin as young as before
  • Exercise smiling in the morning – it is a common scenario in the office that people are so serious at work so they tend to forget to laugh or smile. So, because the face are made up of muscles, you need to exercise it. Smiling is the perfect exercise for the face

I plan to start implementing these tips next week. Why next week? well… because I expect to get drunk, and eat a lot of unhealthy food on thanksgiving! Hehehe

Rain Boots

The various designs that women’s rain boots have always made me giggle a little inside. Back then plain boots were still hip and in, and most people wore black or blue rain boots to work during the rainy season. Not only are these fashionable looking, they actually help prevent you from diseases because they’re sanitary and hygienic, too!

And now, prints and stripes are in. You can see plaid boots, floral ones, even starry ones. Doesn’t it make you happy just looking at these bright boots on people?

Fashion truly has evolved, and I’m quite thankful that I am living in this era. It feels like heaven, just staring at all the shoe stores in the mall, trying whichever ones you like on and buying the one that suits you best. It truly is a different kind of high.

What acne treatment works for you?

health & beauty, skin care No Comments »

The answer is, it depends. You have to research and sometimes risk trying them in order to know. So what you should do is research, research, research. And not just in the internet. You can ask your friends. You can read user and expert reviews on the web. And, if you have the money, you can consult a dermatologist. Because take note that what works for one person may not work for you. There are a lot of acne treatments that work out there. But you don’t need to try a lot. You just need to find the one treatment that works for you. So ask around. Research. Or if you want, you can try at your own risk. As long as you go natural, though, you can risk trying. There are lots of natural cures out there like tea tree oil. And if you want a fast remedy, ever heard of toothpaste? Yes, just put it on your acne. But if you want a long-term remedy, research, research, research.
