Four Hours of Blissful Water Massage Experience

Yamada at the Health SpaMy bestfriend Mark and I went to a Water Therapy Spa last October 25 for an unconventional four-hour water massage experience. I have been dreaming of going to a place like that after watching an episode of Honey & Clover wherein Miwako dragged Yamada to a health spa to cheer her up.

The Water Spa concept basically makes use of Hydrotherapy or “water therapy” - the treatment of disease through the use of water. The Spa Pool alone, with 25 different hydrotherapy massage systems which are push button & soft touch activated, is already a relaxing treat. Add the Bubble Pool, Bubble Massage, Spa Pool, Water Fall Bath, 6 Hot Herbal Pool (Lavender, Jasmine and Mint herbs added to the hot pool with back and foot massage)… The 3,000 square-meter indoor all-weather spa facility is really a water haven.

To cap it off, their high-tech security systems and discreet and warm staff adds up to the cozy, relaxed ambiance at the spa. Mark and I loved it there so much, especially the bubble pool, that we’re planning to save up for another round at the Water Spa this coming holiday season. ^_^

Patience Can Certainly Pay Off

I’ve had acne problems since I hit puberty stage. Not that I’m vain, but, I got really conscious with that especially since having clear skin after all, adds a boost in once confidence.

Since then, I’ve tried several acne treatments from generic, commercial soaps to real derma facial treatments (yeah, the pricking and squishing type). It was only this year that I discovered THE facial wash that finally matched my skin type (the Nivea soap free wash) and the dermatologist that helped clear my acne without having to undergo the usual painful pricking and peeling (well, there is a bit of molting season, but not the horrible your-entire-face-is-peeling type).

I have to admit that my search for the right acne treatment took more than 10 years (and cost me a lot of dough). Nevertheless, the wait and the pain I went through were worth it. I get to appreciate my skin more and proved once again that if you want something, with all your heart, and worked hard for it, you can get it. Patience my dear. 0;)

Scolio?

tips & tricks, health & beauty No Comments »

Do you know that a lot of people I know now have a mild scoliosis? This is because people nowadays don’t observe proper posture. You guys wouldn’t want to end up looking like gorillas, right?! So start standing and sitting up straight, and look like a normal person, for once!

I wouldn’t want to see everyone in this world soon enough to look like the hunchback of Notre Dame.

Maintain Good Posture

Did you know that maintaining good posture has a lot of benefits? Not only does it make you look good and help you boost self confidence, you can also prevent yourself from getting scoliosis–and you wouldn’t want that. My sixteen year-old sister has mild scoliosis and she looks a bit distorted because her right hip is protruding, but it isn’t that obvious if you don’t look that closely. She’s currently undergoing physical therapy to correct that though and to ensure that her scoliosis does not get worse.

So remember folks, maintain proper posture, it’s good for you!

Your teeth is one that most people see in you everyday. So make sure to brush your teeth all the time, because you’ll end up smelling like a sewer if you don’t! And that wouldn’t be nice.

Others wouldn’t like to hang out with you because you have a bad breath and all, and you wouldn’t want that, right? So start brushing and brushing and brushing!

On Getting and Giving a Massage

When I was a kid, my dad, when he’s exhausted from work, asks me to give him a foot and back massage. I hate the menthol oil he makes me use and kept wondering why he loves getting a massage. Then my friend gave me a gift certificate for a Shiatsu Massage at The Spa as a birthday present.

I love the massage, especially the back massage! I loved it so much that I interviewed the masseuse after my session and asked where I can learn how to do proper massage like her. She said that their company provides massage therapy lessons but they also enrolled their employees in a massage therapy school abroad to improve their massage therapy and healing techniques. However, the massage lessons that they offer were only for those associated with them in the massage business.

She did console me with the fact that there are a lot of massage therapy schools. Still, I ought to be careful in selecting one, should do in-depth research, and make sure that the school offers massage therapy certification. After all, completion of the massage course can lend credibility to my name, should I decide to do it full-time of course.

Beautifully Aging

Aging is inevitable. As people age, they tend to worry more about white hair and wrinkles. For white hair, the easy solution to that is hair color. For wrinkles, there are two solutions: minimize worrying and get a facelift.

Before getting a facelift though, make sure to do major background research on the institution you’ll be availing of that service. After all, you’ll be dealing with your face. Based from reviews, both online and offline, Los Angeles facelift, though quite expensive, is sure to give you your much desired result.

With the advancements in technology, dreading one’s birthday nowadays is archaic. As Billie Burke’s wrote, “Age is something that doesn’t matter, unless you are a cheese.”

On Having a Bikini Wax

I love water. I love the beach and the pool. I love to swim.

I have been swimming since I was four. I even trained for a swimming competition in my 2nd year in high school. Nevertheless, I have always been self-conscious whenever I’m in my swim suit, especially when I wear a bikini. You see, I’m having a hard time selecting a bikini that will ensure that hair from the pubic area won’t show.

I thought of shaving them off or getting a bikini wax, but I wasn’t comfortable with the idea. I even attempted on shaving just some of it for argument’s sake, and I got a rash from my attempt. Then I encountered Brazilian Waxing Guide from my friend.

Unlike the usual trimming, Brazilian wax is when all hair is removed from the pubic area. Although Brazilian wax is not for every woman as it might feel a bit uncomfortable and unfamiliar when it is done for the first time, my friend told me it feels very natural and it was the best way to get rid of those annoying hairs. Of course, for first timers like me, it is best to go to a professional salon so that there will be no mistakes and the process will be less painful.

I suggest you read the Brazilian Waxing Guide first before trying it out.

On Vanity and Self-Esteem

health & society, health & beauty No Comments »

Vanity is often associated with being conceited and Narcissism. In some religious preaching, vanity is even regarded as a sin because they consider it as a form of self-idolatry.

Then again there is vanity for self-esteem and Narcissism-vanity. The latter involves too much love of oneself to the point of self-destruction and being conceited. Vanity for self-esteem on the other hand means loving yourself in a way that you ensure that you bring out the best of what you are or what you can be – physically, emotionally, and spiritually.

Self-esteem, after all is important. It reflects a person’s overall self-appraisal of his/her own worth. Moreover, according to Wikipedia, “It involves one’s mental perception of one’s qualities, not of one’s physical features.”

If improving your self-esteem means entailing vanity in some aspect (e.g. availing of cosmetic surgery to improve once appearance), then by all means, go for it. After all, life is full of problems; the more self-esteem you have, the better your chances in overcoming your problems and in succeeding in your goal.

Two Layers of Eyebrows

A friend of mine named Julia has recently migrated to Australia after her retirement from work. I thought of sending Julia a letter to inform her of what The Victorian Cosmetic Institute in Melbourne Australia, which is close to the place where she resides now can offer her. I know Julia will be happy to receive my letter since she used to share with me her concerns including that of dreaming to improve her personal appearance.

Looking beautiful is what every woman desires and to spend for this is not a big deal. More than ten years ago, Julia had her eyebrow tattooed. She did not like the way it was done, thus she had it removed. Unfortunately, the process was not successful. Today Julia has two layers of eyebrows. If you happen to meet her face to face, you will be amazed. As such, instead of improving her face value, having the two layers eyebrow gave her the inferiority complex.

In my letter, I informed Julia that her eyebrow problem will easily be solved thru the laser tattoo removal. She must take advantage of the expertise of the cosmetic institute since it offers a broad range of cosmetic treatments, such as laser hair removal and lip enhancements that are mainly non invasive. The doctors of the institute are highly experienced in laser treatments; hence Julia will be able to get the best advice for her treatment.

I am afraid that after Julia’s treatment and she returns for a vacation, I will not be able to recognize her anymore, for this simple reason - two layers of eyebrow are missing.
