Mean and Lean Machine

It’s lean machine time with our team captain Gil. We all woke up at 5am to jog, do a couple of running laps, sit-ups, bench press and finally row. We were all getting ready for the time trials so they can determine the team for the dragon boat competition. We rowed 200 meters for the first round then 2 kilometers to finish the morning off. Tired and beat after rowing at the bay we had to go and swim 1 kilometer to build stamina. By noon, we all wanted to chill. We decided to convince gil to have us do some bonding time at his house and maybe catch a couple of movies while we were at it with his home theater furniture that he got a few months back. Hungry as hell, we still couldn’t eat anything that wasn’t prescribed by our nutritionist. So we got ourselves some salad and fruit shakes to finish the day off. Over all it was fun! Can’t wait till we all train next.

Horseback Riding as Therapy and Exercise

Browsing mindlessly on a magazine while waiting for my turn for a haircut, an equestrian riding apparel caught my eye. It got me into thinking, “Does horseback riding actually have fitness benefits?” I did some research and here’s what I found out:

Horseback riding aside from being recreational sport, is also considered a beneficial form of therapy and exercise for people of all ages. According to one article, “The trotting and galloping action of a horse helps strengthen the rider’s spine and pelvic muscles, improves posture and stimulates seldom-used core muscles, in the dorsal and abdominal regions.” To cap it off, this activity burns approximately 278 calories per hour for an average, 145-pound person (thedailyplate.com). Imagine that!

It is for those reasons and more that there are horseback riding machines in the market today such as Giddyup Fitness Exerciser Machine - Horseback Riding Simulator.

Quite interesting, don’t you think? ^^;

LCD treadmills

LCD treadmill - There’s not much to say about this product I saw in a mall. It’s just a regular treadmill with a ridiculously large touch screen LCD in front. It looked like one of the POS systems in a department store! Haha. One thing I like about it is that you can insert a SD card in it and watch a movie while doing exercise. It lacks internet connection though, but who in the world would like to surf the net while in a treadmill anyway?

Seriously, it has some other cool features too like calorie statistics, speed, calendar, stopwatch, heart rate and BP monitor. It looks really techie but I think it’s just like other treadmills around. Not interested.

Karaoke Cycling Gym

I have received so many offers from fitness gyms but this one seems to be a first – karaoke cycling gym. It incorporates stationary biking AND singing. Cool huh! They gave me a free one day pass so I tried it. The class was still small with 20 bikes and a large LCD screen where the lyrics of the songs are shown. I started the session with some stretches then I rode the bike. One member of the class gave me a list of songs from where I can choose. I am not really very good at singing but it’s not a contest anyway. At first the exercises were very easy, just like cycling but without any linear motion

When it was my turn to sing, I got the mic and sang with or without you by U2. The exercise, really gave my heart and lungs a total workout. Others told me that after a few sessions, singing and breathing won’t be that hard anymore because my heart and lungs are already warmed up. The session was very fun especially when one member did a Bon Jovi song! It was definitely worth a try. You can even try this kind of setup at home. Next time, I’ll be going with my friends and sing my heart out.

Bicycling - the easiest and most popular form of exercise

As we grow older, our metabolism rate decreases and we tend to grow fat when we do not exercise regularly and eat a balanced diet. I’ve been recently gaining weight on my stomach and it’s becoming unsightly. Consequently, I decided to do something about it by purchasing a mountain bike sometime this October and using it every morning before I start working.

Bicycling is not only one of the best, easiest and most popular forms of exercise; it also is a lot of fun! Also, compared to jogging or aerobics, you don’t need to worry about joint impacts. Biking is also one of the least expensive because quality bicycle equipment lasts a long time.

Speaking of bicycle equipment, there is this problem of storing my new bike in the garage. I guess I ought to buy a bike rack to make sure it doesn’t get run over by our car. I think I’ll buy an overhead bike rack to make use of the unused space in our garage with ease and safety.

Shooting and Your Shoes

Target shooting is a very popular sport that can be safely enjoyed by people of various ages. The basic teachings of marksmanship training are better remembered using the acronym BRASS - Breath, Relax, Aim, Slack, and Squeeze. Talking from experience, BRASS is not the only key to win a shooting competition. What you wear from head to foot also matters.

It is therefore a must to consider choosing comfortable sets of sports gear. More so, a pair of comfortable shoes with highest quality and a good life span. It is also important to buy the pair of shoes that fit your shape (narrow or wide), and give the support you need as you move quickly on the next target in the shooting competition. For a selection of shoes from men’s to women’s, visit only the most reliable sports shoes stores. Of course, it would also be great if you opt to have a custom made or made to order shoes.

In your next competition, whether it is shooting or other ball games, be sure to choose the best pair of shoes for you because this will help you in winning.

Perspire to Health

I am not a doctor who spent years to study human anatomy. I am just an ordinary person using the most essential capacity of a human being, one of my internal senses - the common sense. Relatedly, I was raised by ordinary parents in an ordinary and common setting in countryside. With this simple life, I was educated with the basic things, such as you have to perspire to be healthy. Not knowing the full benefits of perspiring, I obeyed my elders. Thus, in the rural areas, I do walking, running, and jogging in order to perspire and be physically fit.

Now that I’m busy working in an air-conditioned office in the urban area, I could hardly do the same activities to maintain my health. As such, I seldom perspire, and I hate using the weighing scale for it always adds than subtracts for I gain weight with less effort. The worst part of it, I handle my stress by taking medicines. I had been nurturing the feeling of guilt for neglecting my physical well–being, considering that this could be easily done by following the simplest guide I learned long time ago, “Perspire to Health”.

Today, I feel great and this started when I visited www.SaunaKingProducts.com and bought an affordable, effective, and unique sauna. Through this website, I learned the many sauna health benefits brought about by profuse sweating, especially if it is caused by sauna’s far infrared radiant heat.

These benefits are as follows:

  1. Burn calories and controls weight
  2. Increases blood circulation and strengthens the cardiovascular system
  3. Relieves pain
  4. Clears cellulite
  5. Remove toxins and mineral waste
  6. Improves skin
  7. Eases joint pain and stiffness
  8. Improves the immune system
  9. Reduces stress and fatigue

Now, whether in the rural or urban area, I can produce the much needed perspiration to be healthy.
