A present for Jehan

mumblings No Comments »

I was looking for a gift for my friend Jehan’s 26th birthday this February. I saw some interesting accessories with diamonds that fits her personality perfectly. Unfortunately, Jehan lives in Canada and that means I will be shipping my present to her.

Although I trust shipping companies, I don’t trust them enough to actually be able to deliver my gift with diamonds. Consequently, I think I’ll just buy her another present. I’m still hunting for one though. I did buy an accessory with diamonds for her. But I’ll be giving it to her when she comes to visit us – hopefully by April.

Driving and its Hazards

My cousin had always been a fan of motorcycles. He collected them when he had the money, and just cleaned them when he’s free from work.

But he encountered an accident yesterday. The truck just came flying out of nowhere, literally.

We looked for a motorcycle accident attorney as we ran while rushing him to the ER, and we had a hard time looking for one, they didn’t want to take the case.

As he was getting treated, it actually made me realize how much danger we’re putting ourselves in everytime we ride a vehicle. It’s like our lives are at stake.

So be careful with your driving, and be a defensive driver if you don’t want to end up like my cousin.

Don’t Take Your Health For Granted!

As I was resting after I went home from the hospital, I watched the TV. I drifted off to thinking while an auto insurance quotes ad was running, and I realized how I had been taking my health for granted.

I had to do something, I had to take care of myself better starting now, or worse things will happen. If I push myself too hard from work, I’m going to end up dead and giving everyone around me even more problems than what I am trying to solve right now.

If you’ve been taking your health for granted, start thinking about what you should do to take care of yourself now. You can’t take care of other people when you can’t take care of yourself.

Stomach Ache… again.

I went to the hospital a few days ago because I ended up puking everything I ate for two days. My dorm mates actually stared at me in pity and convinced me to go to the hospital.

So I went, and they gave me three injection shots. I was so convinced that it was food poisoning as it has already happened to me before, but it wasn’t.

I sat there waiting for the results while staring at one of the nurses use a pulse oximeter on patients.

Apparently it wasn’t.. it was just gastroentritis. Thank God I’m alright now.

Eco-Friendly!

I have seen many environment friendly tips and tricks by various companies in our country going on at the moment. It’s quite touching to the heart seeing people concerned about nature.

For example, in my old college, they set up a rule that plastic bags aren’t allowed, so everything that people buy are in paper bags instead of plastic bags. Ain’t it dandy? As long as many people cooperate and support this, THERE IS STILL HOPE FOR THE YOUNG’UNS!

There are also other companies that give out promotional bags so you could bring it to their store and put the items you wish to buy there instead of plastic bags. It’s just so awesome.

You can help in your own little ways, too. Conserve and throw garbage in the proper place are only a few of the many things you could do! Remember, little things end up being something big!

Summer heat again

Summer is around the corner again. It’s just the second week of February yet it is sooo hot. I heard from the news that we are experiencing the “El Nino” phenomenon again - aka heat waves. The heat really is scorching making me feel like a vampire under sunlight.

During these times, the heat can cause problems especially in the skin. This is why we must always protect our skin from the harmful rays of the sun. Here are some of the tips I learned from good friends of mine:

  • Always drink plenty of fluids. This is important in order to prevent our skin from drying up.
  • No matter what others may say… use an umbrella when walking under the sun especially during noon.
  • Apply sunblock or day cream but please do this after taking a bath.
  • Lastly, air-conditioning further dries up the skin so it is necessary to apply moisturizers once in a while.
  • Oh and don’t forget to take vitamin C and E for glowing skin.

Talk about varicose veins

health & beauty No Comments »

Varicose veins are often thought of as just an aesthetic problem. What most people do not know, varicose veins are blood vessels which are clogged. hemorrhoid, or the large varicose veins may be painful and even fatal.

When the vein is clogged, the stagnant blood solidify and form thick wall. This may sometimes feel painful to touch. The blood clots in the vessels can even cause stroke if it reaches the brain.

To prevent varicose veins always remember to have a balanced diet and lots of exercise. Specialized stockings can also be used for hemorrhoid relief. Just a tip I learned from my doctor, make it a point to raise your legs before sleeping. Doing this for a few minutes a day allows the blood to easily return to the body and not get stuck in the legs.

On printer and scanner sharing

We’ve been having trouble with the printer and scanner in the office for the past few days. Paper jams, ink refill… you name it. The only problem is we’re having a hard time pinpointing who is responsible for the printer and scanner mishaps since they’re both shared by everyone.

With the monthly report due next week, everyone’s being stressed out with this simple printing and scanning. Frankly, the best solution to all of this is for the company to provide one printer and scanner for each department, have them sign an accountability form, and perhaps get a document scanning software to make everything easier and more organized. What do you think?

Please suggest supplements for joint pains

alternative medicine No Comments »

Herbal supplements have become very common nowadays. They come in a variety of types catering to a wide range of illnesses. One supplement that I am especially interested in is the joint pain supplements that claims to relieve pains from arthritis. If only I could find an unbiased review about them then I would recommend them to my grandparents who suffer from arthritis.

I already asked my doctor about those supplements but as expected, they had no idea if they actually work or not. Probably because they rely their judgement based on the specification given to them by medicine manufacturers, specifications unknown from the herbal supplements. Doctors usually are “anti- alternative medicine” because this type of treatment is based from tradition and trial and error.

I hope someone could tell me if they know a supplement that could help my grandparents. I would really appreciate it. Please feel free to posts your comments guys. Thanks a lot.

See what happens when you disable blockers

mumblings, tips & tricks No Comments »

Pop-ups are certainly annoying but sometimes I kinda miss them. Since the pop-up blocker was invented, pop-up ads became a thing of the past. It’s like watching NFL without the commercial - boring. So for earlier I turned off my pop-up blocker and freely surfed the net hoping to find some interesting ads.It seems like there’s not much changed with the pop-ups. They are still mostly about online casinos, diet pills, and porn sites. But there is this one ad that caught my attention: natural testosterone From wikipedia,

“Testosterone is a steroid hormone from the androgen group. In mammals, testosterone is primarily secreted in the testes of males and the ovaries of females, although small amounts are also secreted by the adrenal glands. It is the principal male sexhormone and an anabolic steroid. Testosterone is evolutionarily conserved through most vertebrates, although fish make a slightly different form called 11-ketotestosterone.”

Come to think of it… if testosterone comes from male organs naturally, where does that “natural testosterone” pill extracted from? Also, what if women took those pills? heheAnyhow, I think I’ll reactivate my  pop-up blocker right now because I think I have seen enough porn ads now. But I admit, ads really are fun to read especially when you’re not in the mood to work.
