Cheaper than a house

tips & tricks No Comments »

Gone are the days when our houses are our greatest assets. These days a house is still an asset, the government’s asset. The bigger our house, the more taxes we pay. This is why more and more people, especially the employed and single, prefer to rent apartments rather than buy a house. Apartments are not only cheap, they are also maintenance free (for the tenants of course). And you could always find another when you don’t like your place anymore. No need for renovations. A friend of mine from California found a great looking apartment near her office. She got a huge discount in Glendale apartments because of an advertising campaign they made for the company. She is inviting me to visit this holiday season although I have a really busy schedule. Anyway if my boss permits, I can get a leave on the third week of december and try to drop by her place.

5 hours before the flight and still working…

I really should be given an award for best employee of the month. I mean, I have a flight to Guimaras, Philippines, in 5 hours and here I am finishing off reports for my company! I’m definitely going to need a cafe latte from jura capresso later at the airport. I hope they have mocha…

But anyway, whatever happens, I’ll make sure my 4-day vacation trip is worth this trouble! I won’t let this report, and non-sleep-before-the-flight stop me from enjoying my precious vacation. YOSH! Good thing I’ve already packed my things last Saturday. Otherwise I’d be in a major panic mode right now.

Wii! It’s a Saturday!

Last Saturday our cool geeky friend decided to buy 3 wii consoles for her beloved nieces. Ever since that thing went to market and got to her t.v. room she hasn’t stop raving about it. We constantly had a Wii night at her apartment. Her initial bribe was the free food (her boyfriend, Leo, is a chef!) and the endless alcohol. Who exactly are we to kick this blessing? But then, voila!, 30 minutes into Wii and we found ourselves getting really crazy with it.

Since that kick-ass night, every first Saturday night became a wii tournament. She literally converted 4 of our best buddies to buy their own. But of course, the wii night during the 1st Saturday is always there precisely because of Leo’s cooking and their endless flow of alcohol. See you next next Saturday! Whoohooo!

A DSLR minus the bulky-ness

Yipes!!! I can’t believe its two days before my trip and I haven’t bought a camera yet! I mean, who goes to a trip without a camera right? Tsk tsk… I’ve been putting off buying one of those cameras way too long.

Hmmm… My friend Mark had several notable suggestions regarding digital cameras last time we met. I’ll just contact him later and ask him to join me in my hunt for THE camera. I want something that’s not too bulky but has the same DSLR functionalities. He mentioned back then that he saw one that fits my description. It’s much pricier than the usual DSLR, but then, with the bulky-ness gone, it should be worth it.

With my soon to be camera, hopefully I’ll be able to update you, my loyal readers, with pictures as well. 0;)

Grammar brush up

My colleague approached me awhile ago asking me to go over some diet pill reviews that needs to be done for a client. She wanted me to proof read it for her since she was the one who created those reviews. As you know, every writer, no matter how good he/she is, needs a third-person as editor.

Unfortunately, may grammar has become rusty over the past five years of not reading and practicing proofreading, that even the “has” and “have” usage is becoming a bit of a challenge to me. It’s a bit embarrassing, really. But then again, that’s what The Associated Press Stylebook is for. 0;) I would like to thank my sister’s fiancé, Sergey, for giving me the latest edition of the AP Stylebook all the way from New York. ^_^

Hopefully, reading that will help me brush up with my grammar and writing skills.

Beach preparations

health & beauty, mumblings No Comments »

Now that I need not worry about how to lose belly fat for our trip to Guimaras, I just need enough money to remove unwanted hairs. After all, what’s the use of going to the beach if you’re going to be uncomfortable with having unwanted hair. Might as well wear a suit and tie in the beach while you’re at it.

Anyway, I’m planning to get a bikini wax tomorrow. If all goes well, I get to flaunt my Billabong two-piece with utmost confidence, as should be.

All set for the beach

While the rest of the world are preparing for the winter season, I’m actually preparing to go to the beach! Fun, sun, and sand… that would be Guimaras for you! ^_^

Thank God I’ve been stressed all October rendering me with very little to no appetite. Consequently, even though my plan with my friend Mark to enroll in Bikram Yoga still hasn’t pushed through (due to unavoidable circumstances), I don’t need to resort to weight loss pills just so I can wear my two-piece red Bilabong. *whew!*

Would you believe that I’m all set right now even though our flight is still on Thursday? Yep, I’m THAT excited. 0:D

Dad’s Birthday Kitchen

It’s my dad’s 65th birthday today! As a gift, my siblings and I all chipped in to give our father his dream kitchen renovation – he loves cooking, especially fried tuna. ^_^

We asked our dad if he had anything specific in mind for the renovation. He’s only request is that we get Kohler faucets for the kitchen sink. Other than that, the rest is up to my sister Anne for the design, and my brother Raymond, for the kitchenware and appliances.

We can’t wait for Christmas! It’s going to be so much fun preparing inside our new kitchen. 0:D

RV’s back home!

tips & tricks No Comments »

After almost three months, our much loved family RV is back from the rv repair shop. The RV has been upgraded and now looks like the Backstreet Boy’s Bus. Haha, not really. Most of the repairs made were the electrical wirings and interiors. Our RV now has a couch and a mini theater so that we could watch movies on the road. We do not usually do long trips, we just want to have some quality time away from home sometimes. We are all planning to go to my Aunt this weekend to give her a visit and of course to brag the RV. I’m sure everyone is as excited as I am now because we haven’t seen my Aunt for two years now since she went to Hawaii.

Bought an Xbox yesterday

tips & tricks No Comments »

Yesterday I went to a computer store to help a friend of mine, Jim, buy an xbox 360. I was just there to assist him, because basically I do not have any technical knowledge about it’s features or specs. When we talked to the salesperson, my friend asked so many things like manufacturer and model version – which the salesperson did not have any idea about. My friend is an electronics enthusiast so he pretty much knew what he wanted. Anyhow, we talked to the supervisor and fortunately he knew about the technical stuff. Jim was looking for an Xbox which was the “jasper” version. He told me about the older versions which were falcon, zephyr, and xenon. From his explanations, the older versions had heat related problems unlike the jasper version. Moral of the story: It sure helps to know all about what you’re buying. At the end of the day, he got himself an Xbox and he gave a a treat in McDonald’s.
