Getting rid of back acne

skin care, tips & tricks No Comments »

Yesterday I went to my dermatologist for a follow-up checkup regarding my back acne. For a month now I have been using acne treatment creams for my back. Good thing my acne break outs occur on my back and not on my face. Still, acne, wherever located, is still a big problem.

Acne is generally hereditary, although it may be triggered by external factors like unbalanced fatty diet, stress, and bacteria. It is recommended not to use over the counter products for acne without first consulting your doctor as the OTP drugs may worsen the condition.

Anyhow, my derma told me that I need to continue my medication for a couple of months more to completely heal my back. I was also given more cleansing agents that I must use instead of soap.

A budget-changing pet

My family has been known to adopt pets since I was a kid. From stray dogs and cats, to injured birds, we’ve had them all. But out of all those, my younger sister Anne has grown attached to Aurora, the sweetest stray cat she’s ever had.

In fact, she loved Aurora so much that she actually saves money from her weekly allowance just to purchase cat supplies. We were all quite surprised about this because her entire allowance, more often than not, goes to her wardrobe and accessories.

I guess having pets are actually more beneficial than just having extra company. They can actually be budget-changing in a good way as well. What do you guys think?

Cranberry – the UTI remedy

alternative medicine No Comments »

A friend of mine was currently having problems about her mother having diabetes. Diabetes can result to even more complications like vision problems and urinary tract infection. My friend said that her mother already took several kinds of strong antibiotics but nothing seems to work. He was a little desperate and was thinking of using alternative medicines.I remembered my brother also had UTI problems but is now doing well because of cranberry juice. His doctor advised a three day cranberry juice diet along with the medications. It was pretty effective for him so I recommended this to my friend.Cranberry is one of the best tasting fruit juices. It is very sour yet it has this natural sweet taste without the bitterness. Cranberries have been widely used as a remedy for kidney and stomach infections because of its natural acids that breaks down toxins in the body. Newer research shows that cranberry is already being used as a part of cancer treatment & prescriptions. And because it is natural, you won’t have to worry about side effects. Just be sure to get the “100% juice” and not the artificial ones.

Always check your transaction receipt!

I got up early today, feeling energized from a ten-hour sleep. Sunny morning, clear sky, no traffic to work (you got the point). In other words, it was a great morning. Since it was still early I went to have breakfast at a café near the office. About fifteen minutes before my shift, I called for the bill and gave my card. To my surprise, the receipt did not match what I have ordered! The cashier swiped my card for a different table!

Just when the day was about to be perfect, this happens. They apologized for what happened and reasoned out that their barcode scanners are having some errors. The problem is, it took time to void my credit transaction and re-swipe for the correct one. As you have guessed, I ended up late… ten minutes late. Fortunately, I checked my receipt before I left the café. Or else I’ll be thinking about my stupidity the whole day long.

Financial Freedom is worth the Price

I have been computing and re-computing my financial statement and, thanks to my Executive Secretary for Finance, Mark, I’ll be almost debt free by October 2009! Hooray! ^_^

Now the next question after attaining a debt free state is, “How do I gain financial freedom?” While some people prefer to just get retirement benefits and money from health, government and even motorhome insurance, some people are actually investing their money in stocks and/or in their own business to have income generating assets.

But, whatever it is you choose, always keep in mind that although financial freedom might be free, it definitely does not come in as cheap. As Robert Kiyosaki shared in Rich Dad’s Cashflow Quadrant:

Freedom has a price… and to me it is worth the price. The big secret is this: It takes neither money to be financially free nor a good formal education. It also doesn’t have to be risky. Instead, freedom’s price is measured in dreams, desire and the ability to overcome disappointments that occur to all of us along the way. Are you willing to pay the price?

I am.

Where did my tooth go?

While brushing my teeth at the office after lunch last week, I was shocked to find blood on my spit. I figured I was probably just having one of those sensitive gum days so I didn’t worry much.

On my way home while riding the bus, I got hungry and ate my Oreos. Some of it got stuck in between my teeth so I discreetly cleaned up using a handkerchief. While doing this, I noticed a gap on my left upper molar. My heart pounded crazily on this discovery… I just might need to avail of dental implants Plano. Frankly, it’s unthinkable for someone like me to have to avail of dental implants. My teeth are nice as they are and I take care of them very well.

I immediately grabbed a mirror and checked the gap as soon as I got home. Turns out that the tooth filling on that molar got chipped off; no need for implant *whew!*

I wasn’t much surprised about the filling chipping off since it’s been there for more than 10 years if I’m not mistaken. I have other tooth fillings that’s about the same age as that one on my molar. I better prepare some cash for those in case their retirement days arise as well. Hehehe.

Auto-generated quotations

Looking for the best insurance package has never been this easy. Introducing the auto insurance quotes! With this, I won’t need to personally phone every insurance company I know just to get a quotation. Just some mouse clicks and I’m all set.

Hehehe. Sounds like home TV shopping to me. Seriously, I currently am a part of the HR department of a large company and getting quotes especially from insurance companies is a big hassle. Usually, I’ll have to wait minutes for them to answer the phone and when they do, another two minutes for the local call forwarding. That’s not all, it takes days before they fax me the insurance quotes I’m asking for. Good thing, companies have already made websites which can do auto-generation of quotes. I’ll just have to input some details like kind of insurance package and number of employees. With a click of a button, I get instant quotes. Easy isn’t it. Now I won’t have to worry about my boss asking for the quotes.

On back acne

I have tried home remedies, back scrubs, steam bath, and ever herbal pools yet nothing seems to work on my acne. Mostly on my back, pimples and blackheads started coming out when I began having lots of deadlines at work. My condition is not that bad yet, but I don’t want to wait for my skin problem to worsen so I consulted my derma about it.

Acne is usually genetic, although it can be triggered by stress and poor eating habits. The doctor advised that I take a cleansing diet (lots of fruits and green leafy vegetables) for a month. So no bacon-mushroom melts for a while until then. Also, since I cannot do anything about my deadlines at work, I was just advised to do some relaxing activities when I’m stressed out. As for the medications, she gave me an anti bacterial acne cleanser and some anti inflammatory creams (very expensive) which I have to apply three times a day. The medications are starting to take effect now, after only two days. Still a month to go.
