Green Tea Anorexics

food & nutrition No Comments »

Green tea, Red tea, White tea, even iced tea – what’s all the hype about these products. You’ll see these advertisements in almost every TV show. So, what about them?

Well, tea became popular nowadays because studies claim that it is a natural anorexic, anorexigenic or appetite suppressant so to speak. Artificial appetite suppressants were popular before but were banned by the FDA because of severe sideffects like heart palpitation and stroke. Now, anorexigenics are already allowed by the FDA to be sold over the counter for as long as they have 100% natural ingredients.

Green Tea is usually an ingredient in natural anorexics. Not only does it suppress appetite, it also helps in reducing fats in the body. The best thing about this is its safe and great tasting too. Try it!

Sexy Bali

It was a deal. If I could help my aunt lose weight for my cousin’s wedding she’ll take me to Bali. Tell me, who in the world wouldn’t want that right? So I decided to fix her, her diet plan, exercise routines, and vitamins she needed for the weight loss. She even included her own weight loss pills as part of her routine to make sure. The wedding is 1 month away but she’s determined to lose 10 pounds. So I took care of her daily diet and joined her joggings during Mondays and Wednesdays. Yoga on Tuesdays and Thursdays and swimming on Fridays and Saturdays. We started out last week and so far so good everything is working out perfectly. By the end of the month she and will be fit and sexy and my new bod is ready for Bali!

On asbestos exposures
and the importance of being cautious

fitness advice, health & society, tips & tricks No Comments »

I’ve heard that infrequent exposure to even small amounts of asbestos can lead to some disease, but I never realized how dangerous that was until one of my colleagues shared that his father, who was an electrician, was diagnosed with mesothelioma. He furthered that it was a scary time for his entire family since asbestos fibers are so toxic that the doctor said they (family) are also at risk for developing mesothelioma through particles that cling to his father’s clothing, shoes, skin and hair. (By the way, I did some research and this type of “second-hand” exposure to asbestos is known as para-occupational exposure.)

At the moment, there is no known cure for malignant mesothelioma. But the most common treatments available are surgery, chemotherapy and radiation therapy. My colleague’s father was lucky because his mesothelioma was detected at an early stage. Consequently, they were able to treat it with just a few chemotherapy sessions.

This is why it is always a good idea to consult your doctor at once if you experience any unusual symptom - so you can be immediately diagnosed. Then again, as always, prevention is better than cure. If you can avoid high risk jobs, then do so.

Laptop or Netbook?

I have been debating with myself if I’ll buy a new laptop or just a netbook. For those who are not aware, netbooks are just laptops which are especially made just for internet surfing. Netbooks are cheap nowaways, although they are not that powerful for office computing. Laptops in the other hand are a lot more expensive, especially the smaller ones.

The thing is I love surfing the net. I spend my free time blogging and chatting with friends abroad. So I guess a netbook will be fine. But then again… what if I decided to do my work? I am a web developer by the way, and I need a fast pc for my job. hmm… now I’m getting even more confused.

Smiling exercise

fitness advice, fitness & sports No Comments »

I was browsing through my web album and saw some of my pictures two years ago. Boy did I grow older! I compared what I looked like during my first year to my last year in college. I couldn’t tell the difference. But now, only two years later, you can really tell the difference.

The face, like other parts of the body, has muscles and fats. And just like any muscle, toning and exercise is needed to maintain its figure. Take for instance lifting weights in a gym. When we do it regularly, our muscles become tight. But when we stop, the muscle will sag and will lose its form. The same thing happens with the face. During college years we always laugh with our friends, which is great facial exercise. Now that we are working, we have eight hours of work and little time to smile, hence no exercise.

So what is my point here? Smiling makes a person look younger, more effective than even the best wrinkle cream out in the market. It reduces the sagging of the cheeks and maintains that youthful glow. So there you are guys. SMILE! ^_^

My LCD crashed to the floor!

I arrived a couple of minutes late at work, still nervous and sweaty because of something that happened at home earlier. My 40-inch LCD TV fell off the rack! I was just about to lock the house then when I suddenly heard some glass breaking. Since I have a conference call with a client, I cannot come late to work (yet i was) , so I left the house as it is, leaving it in such a mess.

I called up my brother who lives nearby and asked him to check what really happened. He said my tv stand, somehow, was not screwed in tight enough so it collapsed. Fortunately, my TV is okay, just minor scratches on the frame. Whew! Next time I’ll just get those wall mounts.

Can we trust review sites?

tips & tricks, fitness essentials No Comments »

A while ago, we had an informal breakfast meeting with some friends in the office. One of the topics opened was “can we really trust diet pill reviews?”, that is regarding the effectively of their pills. The fun chatting came to a serious conversation as everyone of us had previous experience with review sites.

So can we really trust them? The answer really depends on what site, how it is presented, and the details they are presenting. Say for example unofficial review sites from forums. We cannot really rely on them because some of the posters might have been paid to make that post. Blogs are even worse because it may be a paid blog for the product. FDA official sites however are good references. It’s actually the only good reference I know of. The topic ended with “just use our common sense and just ask a doctor”.

Crowning Glory

My sister and I had our hair checked in a mall. They said that our hair was pretty dry. They actually even scolded us and they said we look like we don’t take care of our hair that much. They also mentioned that the hair is the crowning glory of a woman, therefore, it should be taken good care of.

I have to admit, I’ve been too busy with work and stuff like going over life insurance quotes to actually be preoccupied with my hair. Well, we all have to pay attention to ourselves once in a while, don’t we?

We both learned our lesson. Heheh. I might even avail of a digital perm treatment soon if all goes well. ^_^

Dress Fitting Bliss

My friend JC’s wedding is on July 11. I was invited to be part of the wedding entourage, and I recently met up with his mom to have them take my measurements for the bridesmaid dress. The theme is pink and black. I already picked the design and I have a feeling I’m going to look gorgeous in it. ^_^

Thank God I got my college slim figure back in time for the dress fitting, so I need not resort to ephedra pills and the likes just to lose weight. Now all I have to do is maintain this figure until July 11 by exercising; perhaps I’ll enroll in Bikram Yoga. We’ll see.

Mom’s Silver Lining in Catching the Flu

weightloss, mumblings No Comments »

My mom is fat. She used to be slim, but since she was assigned to just admin work in the military (minimizing her time for exercise), she gradually gained weight.

A couple of her friends recommended some fat burners, but she’s not really into that. She prefers a well-balanced diet and exercise. Then again, for old people like her, it’s really a seemingly impossible feat to go back to being slim. So her losing weight progress is quite slow.

Then something happened and in just 3 days, she lost 6 lbs. No, she didn’t take some weight loss pills, and no, she did not undergo liposuction. She caught the flu.

Of course, my mom wished it wasn’t the flu that helped her lose weight, and she definitely would not wish for someone to get sick just to shed off those unwanted fats. After all, flu can be very dangerous to one’s health. But then again, there goes the silver lining in her catching the flu – 6 lbs. off.
