Magnesium – the Most Important Mineral in the Body

food & nutrition, health & diet No Comments »

While helping out my sister with her assignment in Chemistry, I was surprised to find out that Magnesium (Mg), as defined by Nutrition Data, “is an essential mineral for the human body. It is needed for protein, bone, and fatty acid formation, making new cells, activating B vitamins, relaxing muscles, blood clotting and forming adenosine triphosphate (ATP).” It is even the 11th most abundant element by mass in the human body.

I was more fascinated when I learned that magnesium is a very important mineral in the body since it activates over 300 different processes in our body – from digestion, energy production, muscle function, and bone formation, to muscle relaxation, and heart function. This is why when people suffer from magnesium deficiency, their body goes out of balance.

According to studies, an average person needs around 350 to 450 mg of magnesium each day. To replace the magnesium levels which were depleted via exercise or just your normal routine, you can either to increase your caloric intake by over 50% or take magnesium supplements or magnesium vitamins.

For those checking their calorie intake, I suggest you check your magnesium intake as well.

The Ozone Layer

I have seen many products these days that contribute in damaging or punching holes in the ozone layer.

For example, those aerosol spray-containers and refrigerators that release chlorofluorocarbons. Please limit your use of these products since if the ozone layer’s hole gets big, we would all be exposed to the harmful ultraviolet rays of the sun.

Please do not think only of yourselves, but also of the future generations that can help change the world.

Thank you!

My Dad is a Heart Survivor

Dad is a survivor of heart bypass operation. In 2002, he was described as a walking time bomb by doctors after seeing the result of his angiography. He was advised to be operated on as soon as possible. Thus in June 2003, he had a successful heart bypass operation.

As we recall, prior to this operation, Dad has rapid heart rate and was complaining on occasional chest pain. Other doctors were saying perhaps that might be due to gastritis. We sought the second opinion who said it might be because of an Enlarged Heart and because of the huge difference in those two diagnosis, we decided to do some research. Our access to information that time was limited, unlike today, there is a Heart Library. Our family doctor advised us to be more informed about the heart problems since Dad’s sickness was not only caused by his diet, but genetics as well.

Bicycling – the easiest and most popular form of exercise

fitness & sports, fitness equipment No Comments »

As we grow older, our metabolism rate decreases and we tend to grow fat when we do not exercise regularly and eat a balanced diet. I’ve been recently gaining weight on my stomach and it’s becoming unsightly. Consequently, I decided to do something about it by purchasing a mountain bike sometime this October and using it every morning before I start working.

Bicycling is not only one of the best, easiest and most popular forms of exercise; it also is a lot of fun! Also, compared to jogging or aerobics, you don’t need to worry about joint impacts. Biking is also one of the least expensive because quality bicycle equipment lasts a long time.

Speaking of bicycle equipment, there is this problem of storing my new bike in the garage. I guess I ought to buy a bike rack to make sure it doesn’t get run over by our car. I think I’ll buy an overhead bike rack to make use of the unused space in our garage with ease and safety.

A person who is sitting in front of computers for several hours is endangering his eyesight. For this reason, most of the people exposed on computer works for several hours normally wear eyeglasses. There are two reasons why they wear eyeglasses. Foremost reason is to correct the diagnosed eye problems and the second reason is to protect the eyes for the harmful effects of computer.

My Mom has taught us when we were small, that our tired eyes could be relaxed by looking at something green, like the trees and the grasses. Our teachers in the school taught us the same thing and even advised us to have our home garden so we have always the green to look at. Nature has provided the best cure for our eyes, the green living things that surround us. Thus, we have to care for it. No wonder, my neighbor had consulted the TruGreen-Chemlawn to provide the highest quality lawn care service for his property. The company has skilled specialists who are courteous. My neighbor is happy for they even recommended a procedure to save the trees and shrubs. I’m lucky to have a neighbor with a beautiful lawn that helps me to relax my eyes. Give proper care to your lawn, for it is the nature’s cure for tired eyes.

Your House Shows Who You Are

health & society, tips & tricks No Comments »

Just as I said before, taking care of one’s house means taking care of one’s self and family. Your house tells you who you are. So if your house is clean and tidy, it also shows that you’re a neat person. If it’s messy and rundown, it can say a lot of negative things about you too. So if you currently have problems with your house, you should purchase a home warranty and get only what is best for you and your family. Choose the best service that is really worth paying the amount you’re supposed to pay. If you don’t know what a home warranty is, it is a contract good for a year that helps protect homeowners about unexpected repair expenses and the like.

I recommend the American Home Shield. Many people say it takes the hassle out of home repairs. If you don’t believe me, try asking the 1.2 million home owners who trust home warranties from this brand. They claim AHS to be most definitely the leading home warranty company.

Water – A Basic Need

In our home, Mom is educating us on prioritizing our expenses. She said there are three groups of expenses: the basics, the wants and the luxuries. She even gave us this example – water is one of the basic needs of man, and 2/3 of our body is water. If there is color in the drinking water such as in juices and soft drinks, water now becomes a want. And water becomes a luxury, if there is an alcohol content in it, like in the wine. Her point is – all we need is water.

This importance of water in our life, made me recall an incident at home, when we almost had our water service disconnection due to failure to pay the water bill on time. We were so thankful we were given a day extension to pay the bill. My brother solved this urgent need by having the fast cash on the internet through the payday loans. According to my brother this loan is open for those who have bank accounts, working, and more than 18 years old. Thanks to the payday loans, water at home continues to flow.

The spelling of K.A.S.H. is correct. It is not spelled CASH meaning money. However, both K.A.S.H. and CASH are needed to be successful. The money that is needed could easily be yours through the pay day loans. This CASH can be yours easier or faster than you could think of if you have K.A.S.H.

K.A.S.H. is an acronym of becoming a professional. K stands for Knowledge, A for Attitude, S for Skills and H for Habits. Exercise Time

I seem to be gaining a lot of weight lately. My body feels a bit heavier and wider than usual, and my weighing scale seems to nod in agreement to that observation. My officemates even joked that I should consider investing the cash advance benefits I get into paying for gym sessions. This I don’t understand, because for the past few months I have been very active and hardworking. I work hard at the office, I do my own chores at home, and I don’t eat snacks. I don’t think I eat so much either.

My only weakness, I guess, is that I don’t exercise. I can’t seem to find the energy to do a workout. Once I get home or during weekends, I would rather sleep than exercise. Now I think I really have to exercise if I want my waistline expansion and weight accumulation to end.
