The Aunt From New York

weightloss No Comments »

The count down starts now. The family’s favorite aunt from New York is arriving within 24 hours. She celebrated her 50th birthday last January 2007, and sent the video coverage of the party. The family members were all praises to the grand celebration. However, they noted the extra weight of the aunt. This observation reached New York, and the aunt to their surprise took the comments positively. That kind remarks from the people who care, serves as the jumping board for the transformation of the aunt’s new image.

Few months ago, the aunt was bragging that she has been health conscious. She regularly puts on her pair of running shoes, and observes a strict diet. She told her nieces and nephews to do their best at the airport to meet her, since there is the possibility of not recognizing her, now that she’s wearing her new clothes size. She is very thankful for the family’s concern, for she now looks younger, feels stronger and works better. Today, the favorite aunt is already a part of the growing Healthy New York.

Only few hours left, thus, everybody is eager to meet the healthy New Yorker aunt who brings gifts to each member of the family.

Health is THE Wealth of Wealth

On my move in to our temporary office/house in the province, one of my biggest fears was that my colleagues/housemates and I will mostly be eating junk food, canned goods, instant meals like noodles (my ultimate favorite by the way), and pre-heated pizzas (also a favorite, but definitely unhealthy). To avoid this, my colleagues/housemates and I decided to start cooking healthy by enrolling in a Le Cordon Bleu culinary arts school this coming October; perhaps we’ll enroll online through http://www.baychef.com/.

After all the purpose of our merging should not just be limited to helping each other in getting rich financially, but also physically and emotionally (spiritually also if possible). So aside from eating healthy, we also plan on incorporating some fitness activities in our daily routine like mountain biking and basketball. As Richard Baker nicely put it, “To get rich never risk your health. For it is the truth that health is the wealth of wealth.”

Early Detection & Treatment Tool for Cancer

One of my biggest fears is to have cancer. This is because you usually do not know you have cancer until it’s too late. Consequently, I was relieved to find out that there is proteomics development for clinical biomarkers for early detection and treatment of cancer.

According to a study, this development is focused on two approaches: Identifying signature patterns of proteins in various diseases, and validating the association of signature proteins with cancer. As with any disease, early detection of cancer is important for successful treatment of cancer. Generally, it is still up to us if we are going to ignore or take notice of the slightest symptoms that could eventually lead to cancer. And with improved technologies such as proteomics offering a “great promise for early detection, screening and classification of different types of cancers” it would of course be our fault if we do not avail of it and are diagnosed too late with a stage three cancer.

Post Nasal Drip: Posted

My mom is a teacher, and for several years, she’s been experiencing post nasal drip. This was terribly disturbing her in her sleep and also when she gives lectures. She was made to believe that our polluted environment and her allergy were the culprits to her suffering post nasal drip. She even thought she had to bear with it forever.

However, while tutoring my nephew in his Biology subject, we visited the silversinus.com and got the information that changed my mom’s thinking on post nasal drip. In this site, we learned that post nasal drip is one of the sinus infection symptoms and as such, my mom has sinusitis, not just the acute sinusitis but a chronic sinusitis. What is interesting to know is that there is a natural sinus infection treatment, the Silver Sinus, which will help my mom get rid of the sinus infection (post nasal drip) for good. With this knowledge, my mom’s life is never the same.

Thank you silversinus.com, my mom’s post nasal drip is now posted.

Organic is for Organic

During Easter in our parish, the priest keeps on reminding the faithfuls of this biblical verse, “Remember man, that you are from dust and from dust you shall return”. Relatedly, in one of the forums I attended, the speaker said, “to be healthy, a person should be very careful with the foods they eat”. He strongly recommended to consider the following in the selection of foods: 1st priority, the produce from the soil like the fruits and vegetables; 2nd priority, those foods from the sea and bodies of water such as the fish; 3rd priority, the two-legged animals such as the birds and chicken; 4th priority, the four-legged animals with horns like the cows, deer and goats; and the last group that everyone has to avoid are those four-legged animals with horns like the pig.

These two beautiful reminders are not only on the aspects of man’s spirituality but on man’s physical and health concerns too. Thus, the first priority, the organic food coming from the soil is highly recommended for man, being an organic creature. From this produce come organic products such as organic health products, organic vitamins and organic skin care. In conclusion, organic is best for organic.

Feeling Good Again After 50

After dinner as the members of the family were sitting at the living room, I asked my 57-year old Mom if she is experiencing hot flashes, now that she is at the menopausal stage. She told us that she seldom experience having hot flashes, but when it happens, she admitted to have a very uncomfortable feeling. With this response, the four girls in the family bombarded her with questions.

Mom narrated that in her fifties, she still had regular monthly period. Her obgyne then, invited her to start the Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) program to prevent hormonal imbalance thus controlling menopausal symptoms such as the dreaded hot flashes, mood swings and vaginal dryness. However, she declined the invitation, since she is not used to taking drugs.

At this juncture, my sister Abigail, who is studying medicine shared her learnings on the topic. She said today, the natural progesterone is the most natural and safest way to assist women with symptoms of hormonal imbalance. This means balancing your hormone without drugs through the use of progesterone cream, a natural progesterone cream, specifically the bioidentical progesterone cream which is not taken by mouth, but through the skin. This is the trans dermal treatment, where the cream is applied to skin, goes to the blood stream and starts hitting the receptor sites immediately. Abigail gave emphasis on the importance of progesterone for women like Mom. At the end of our discussion, Mom with the smile on her lips is already convinced on the method of feeling good again after 50 without drugs.
